    Adventure on the Mullica

Wow! You are right Jeff, I have never seen one so vibrant. I must have been asleep going by that one. It may not have been there; how could 3 of us not see it? You were, what, 30 minutes behind us at that point. PS: it would be fun to digitally kick up the colors a notch in your edit...

    Ruins near Lake Oswego....

What a great program that was. They should definitely resurrect it, and the young should be compelled to serve a year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_Conservation_Corps

    Adventure on the Mullica

A couple more photos. The first one shows guy with his back to my camera. Look closely to his right and you can see Steve and Gabe far down the savannah. The next photo is the best I could do to capture them with 4 times zoom. Side shot of the savanna.....

    Adventure on the Mullica

Nice photos Guy, very nice, especially the Lophiola. I just woke up a half hour ago (asleep since 6:00) and am going to bed again soon. I really had a great time today. Perfect weather, perfect river, and good friends. Can you beat that?

    remote bogs

I don't know. I would think not, since some mammals eat snakes, so their senses would go haywire upon entering it. But, maybe someone will do a google search and find out its possible.

    Bluetooth security

There are a few guys at work that wear those full time, in the hallways, in the bathroom...wherever. That is not for me. Call me old-fashioned. I'll remain unbodily disconnected.

    Mercury

I would not say the pines water is polluted at all. I don't know what else to say about that then to say that my definition of polluted does not fit our water at all.

    Thinking about Aserdaten

You know how sometimes you can make out a poorly written word by stepping back and squinting at it? Try it, does that help?

    Thinking about Aserdaten

Jerseyman, I was surprised to hear a local use the name "Cherry Valley" several weeks ago. I will query the gentleman as to his perception of the area in his mind. Interesting.

    Thinking about Aserdaten

Jeff, you are correct. The area is cleared in the vicinity of the cellar holes (on the northern side). What is perhaps throwing Ben off is that it does not look visually like most peoples conception of a clearing. It is about a 15-20 yard radius, and trees have already grown back on some of it...

    remote bogs

Bobpbx is always open to new things and ideas. I think they are mammal dens. I would be extremely surprised to see that they are snake dens. But, if you guys are correct, I tip my hat to you for teaching me a new one.

No, I mean the name below those, right next to the crossroads on the left. It is one word. Are you speaking of the big "L"?

    Thinking about Aserdaten

Guy, I am curious about the grid lines on your old map (where it says; 21 and 22). Is that a longitude line? Is it dead on north and south? Also, can you make out what it says on the old map at the intersection just above T-PEE?

    Thinking about Aserdaten

Guy, thanks, but you give me too much credit. I found ruins, very old ruins, but now your map has me doubting it is Aserdaten. Here me out; 1.) Dutchman's Road runs fairly straight on your old map, and yet you gave a definite kink to the north in your photomap. I can't see that the old map...

Aerial photo's "Then & Now" - 56k Beware, contains big images

From what I can tell, tragically, where they cut all the cedars, it turned to hardwood swamp (light grey). That is because of deer eating the young cedars who tried to make a comeback. That is a fact proven by the fence at Penn Swamp. It kept the deer out and the cedars made a strong comeback.

    Thinking about Aserdaten

Its a puzzle boys, its a puzzle indeed. ..."and there were the two cellar holes, yawning pits in the midst of tall indian grass, cavities in which I dug out bricks and field stones". (H. Beck, pg 175, Jersey Genesis) .."Somehow....you begin to dread getting at the truth about...

Boy Jeff, you know you are really out there when you tag a "sand wash" as being near civilization. I am still pondering.
