    New Woods and Male Bonding

Scott is a bad influence on me. So is Jeff. They actually enjoy partying. Imagine that. :) It was a good, informative day. Here is a huge hole made by some sort of beast. Look at the sand he dug: Here is the dam we found on Bisphams Mill Creek. They stopped the water here...

    Tuckahoe WMA

Those first few photos with the sun going down are smokin! I especially like the one where the sun is a big ball of hot molten metal; it looks like at any moment the surrounding area goes....Phooooomp! Up in flames. I'll bet getting to the island would be fun. Have to bring a long 2X6 and set...

I like the salt meadow photo best. I want to go hide out from society on that Island. No more news about Britney Spears or Anna Smith.

    10 Mile Hollow Trail

Its odd you mentioned that Hewey. The only time I really felt I had done myself in was on that trail one sunny Saturday morning in June about 6 years ago. I left about 9:00 to to to a place I knew that had orchids. I got there okay, and had brought 2 quarts of water with me. By 10:45 or so the...

    10 Mile Hollow Trail

Hewey, I tag most of them as small gun clubs, but there are a couple old home sites too. I know where you mean. 2 are very far in towards Dover Forge (most likely small gun clubs, I found where the sheet metal stoves were in the woods), but the two near Bamber are larger ones. They are most...

    10 Mile Hollow Trail

Do a search for the word Arab on this site and you'll come to a thread that fills you in. Here is a snippet from Borderwalker's thread of the time: "The letter was from Dr. John Torrey, a botanist from Philly, to his collegue Zaccheus Collins in Philly, who was probably no direct relation to...

    10 Mile Hollow Trail

I heard this sitting in the cozy kitchen of an old and trusted friend, a man whose piney roots are firmly planted, a man who has accompanied me on many of my erstwhile jaunts. It was just a bit of information, nothing substantial really, but it did get me thinking, and I closed my eyes and tried...

    10 Mile Hollow Trail

Today I walked the ancient road from 10 mile hollow to the forgotten bridge over the Davenport Branch. This road is nearly grown over in some places. It is at least 200 years old. It is cut a little deep in some spots, as most wagon roads seem to be:

    Cold Night For Backpack Camping

I wonder if he just bought all that gear. I am getting ready to try camping again, and when I look at my old gear, I know I am in for some upgrading and money. I need to get out and rediscover myself, is what I am thinking. Allow me to ramble a bit here. I was in the Mall on Route 1 in...

    Hidden in a Barn

To me, it would be much more than the money (though that is good too). I would have a very, very great several years if I found that. I would tenderly take them out one by one and clean and detail them. Then I would do the research to find out what each one was (exactly) and then put them on...

Fun With The Gun, Coyotes Won

I never noticed that Scott, as many times as I've probably seen them I most like attributed them to an old survey. Thinking of them, and whether any greehorns ever strayed from the line and got lost reminded me of something. My neighbor of 25 years moved on, but we had many great conversations...

I didn't think it was that cold today at all. I went to the store and didn't wear a coat. I can't make it out there, I am going up to Rutgers tomorrow....

    Mountain Man

I noticed they set up camp again from the 15th through the 19th. It is at the first sand and gravel mine after Bamber heading East. There are signs outside indicating this years "rendevous". It appears to be open to the public, as there are prominent signs, although I don't know for sure.
