No, can't be even though the flower is somewhat similar. I base that upon the leaves. Are those the leaves? Canbyi leaves are narrow.

More like it, but only close examination will tell the tale between that and Lobelia nuttallii. Where did you get the photo?

This was on the trail along the Rancocas. Right by the old foundation. The Cardinalis was an easier ID. It was on the banks of Smithville Lake along with the Juncus effusus and Carex crinita. This was there also.DSC00592.jpg
