Who knew it was the Dating Game theme ?
Wow.
I still can't beleive we didn't win with the eclectic brain trust sitting at our table.
If only they had hunting or fishing questions.

Great pick, oji. I knew you'd come up with the perfect song for staring out at this rain!

Don't y'all ever have moderate weather? Drifts of snow. Floods of rain. Incredibly beautiful crisp sunny days (these last few). Good material for story-telling . . . makes me want to stay forever. :)

B. J. Thomas had golden pipes. This is one of my favorite songs for singing along. It has universal appeal. See if you can resist singing along at the end.

Ed,

Sorry to hear about your problems. I hope the rain stops soon for you.

I don't know if you heard as a young man about that song, but I always knew of it as not a song about rain, but a song about the bombing in the Vietnam War. John Fogerty was quite good at throwing war references in his songs without really many people thinking about it. I am not sure if it is true or not, but I always think of that song in that way.

Think about the war when you read the lyrics. John Fogerty was a big anti war proponent.

Someone told me long ago, there's a calm before the storm.
I know, and it's been comin' for some time.
When it's over, so they say, it'll rain a sunny day.
I know, shinin' down like water.
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain?
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain
comin' down on a sunny day?

And, Fortunate Son where he talks about Senators sons getting out of the war.

FORTUNATE SON
Some folks are born made to wave the flag,
ooh, they're red, white and blue.
And when the band plays "Hail To The Chief",
oh, they point the cannon at you, Lord,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no senator's son,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no,
Some folks are born silver spoon in hand,
Lord, don't they help themselves, oh.
But when the taxman come to the door,
Lord, the house look a like a rummage sale, yes,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no millionaire's son.
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no.
Yeh, some folks inherit star spangled eyes,
ooh, they send you down to war, Lord,
And when you ask them, how much should we give,
oh, they only answer, more, more, more, yoh,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no military son,
It iain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate one, no no no,
It ain't me, it ain't me,
I ain't no fortunate son, no no no,

Guy, I think your right but right now it's about the water.

I know. Again, sorry about your water problems.

My wife and I went out early this morning for breakfast, and the restaurant had most of the tables blocked off with buckets catching the water. The water was running across the floor to our feet and they had to come with a mop to stop it from reaching us. I could see that the woman there were not happy that they had more to deal with than their usual day.

I think water is second only to fire in terms of "stuff that can ruin your day really thoroughly."

Is this the song Bob?

Yes, that is one of the most perfect songs ever made in my opinion, just excellant. I remembered on the way home.

Here is a fun battle between the tempations and the 4 tops. Check out Levi Stubb's voice....so very strong and cool. Some other good bands go first.
