Welcome,
If you are sincere, I do not think anyone here will be a critic because you do a little responsible off roading. It's part of the Pines Package if you want to get around a bit and really see all the wonder. Many nice folks here so read, learn, and share.
I try to be responsible. I am just learning now. I would rather stick to legal roads and just have a good time. No need to end up in the wrong spot causing trouble. I have responsibilities and don’t want to deal with the hassle of trespassing.
I really do just like cruising thru though. It is fun.
You will find there are a couple annual opportunities with good groups in more than one Pine Barrens region to lend a real hand and help keep it clean. Keep an eye out.

I should have a trailer hitch soon and wouldn’t mind towing a cart around to pile some garbage in there. It is a shame seeing used tires an building materials dumped in the woods.
There is a little local wooded area near my house and some people do the same there, tires and construction debre.
Welcome to the forum. I own a 4x4, so I definitely don't look down on 4x4 owners
.
That is good to know. I read a few threads here and there was a lot of negatives when it came to 4x4s. I think of my truck as both a toy and a means to an end. The end being some cool landmarks or off the way spots.
welcomew I see youre making it to all the sites. try this one as well

Yes I am! Trying to both learn and help out where I can. I joined on njjeep.org a while back. I post here and there but I mostly lurk subscribing to interesting threads.
Welcome! As far as 4x4's go, I wouldn't leave home without it. It's not the vehicle that's the problem, but the person driving it
I can see that. Right now I plan on dealing with the truck’s maintenance. I want to stop any and all leaks. I really don’t want to leave any trace that I was around.
Welcome to the forum Stanbo! And don't be apologetic about owning a vehicle that lets you enjoy the forest - that's what God put it there for! Of course there are some who want to put gates up at every trailhead and make hikers subsist on teaberries and sassafrass bark, but after all there's one in every crowd and it's our job to show them it just ain't so!
LOL good point. I can’t wait to enjoy the forest in the winter. I work outside so it is fun for me to play outside.
Welcome! Don't worry so much about your 4x4 out there. Go where common sense tells you to go and enjoy.

Yeah I did a solo run this Saturday and just mosied along. I stopped wherever I saw a sign and got out and read them. I have coworkers that swear the whole pineland is off limits to vehicles. I have friends that took me there and I don’t see them being the type of people that will go where they aren’t supposed to.
I was happy to see a posting with vehicle rules so I pretty much followed them. Anywhere that I saw a warning for private property I stayed away.
Plus the roads I was on are taggen on my tomtom which I thought was funny. I want to start marking spots with waypoints so I can know where things get “hairy”.
Hi Stan,
If you enjoy the pines and are looking to volunteer you will find plenty of opportunity to do so through this site. Lots of advance postings for get-togethers, clean-ups and trail work. We manage to wander the pines in various manners (foot-wheels-fins-etc.) Welcome and enjoy your time here. I have found the "residents" to be warmly accomodating!

I love the “NJ attitude”, I grew up in NY and everyone is way nicer out here. It fits my style way better.
I like getting a wave or a smile when I pull over so people can pass on the trails.
I will also get on my bike soon as I figure a trail I can run without going thru deep water.
Here are some pictures from Saturday:
