Ro took these pix this past week of our favorite rarity and it's even scarcer color variant.

Very nice Johnny and Ro.

What plant do those denticulate-margined leaves in the background in the first photo belong to...is that bramble, or what?

Bob, green serrated (sic?) leaves in the Gentian pix may be Clethra alnifolia but we need to go back for a better look. I had the same question after posting, btw. Gentians were in a very thick mix of plants and surprised me that they found their way to sunlight.

Haven't responded sooner as busy outside of botany and took today off so we could go down to Bombay Hook (tons os Avocets, another scarcity than can be found in big numbers in certain spots).

You and Ro really get around. You really live life LARGE! God bless you both for that.

Bob, we stopped at the site this evening and for sure it's Sweet Pepperbush/Clethra alnifolia. Thought, wrongly, that their leaves are entire.

Bob, Ro uses a Canon EOS 7D Mark II with the latest Canon macro lens for flower/insect pictures.
