Oh man. 7 inches of salt water in my house in Surf City. No water in my parents' house in Brick (amazingly!) but no power for 11 days. House, flood and FEMA insurance guys coming tomorrow. So much for those nice hardwood floors and the new linoleum in the kitchen put in a few months ago. Ugh!
At the very least, SUV and boat were both alright!

Just a quick update: I've been back for a little while now. Signed a lease for a new apartment - up in Monmouth County. Have graduated from sleeping on an air mattress (that deflates during the night) to a real grown-up mattress (that is on the floor.) I'm working on getting internet and furniture. I will be scarce around here until things get a little closer to normal.
By the way, the folks that sent a little something to me paid for my mattress. So I (and my back) really thank you!

Glad to hear that you've got a new place Ben, and I hope things will continue to improve for you. 
This article from 1962 is almost the same as some of the articles from the past few weeks. Most of the problems are the same too, looting, problems with insurance and limited access to damaged areas. Read the very last paragraph - times haven't changed.
