It is not a bar. It is a rubber coated cable most likely for the all wheel drive or odometer. Not really sure. It is connected into the transmission in the front. But what is the bar? Is it bushing mounted, maybe possible cause?
I drove it today to the woods and I can actually feel it moving up and down causing shaking. I had things to do and needed to get out there. I have nothing going on this week so I may wait until Friday when it is cooler to replace it. I will take video and photos if I remember. What would be the purpose of rubber mounting a differential Guy? That seems crazy.
Both of my F-350's have straight iron axle tubes front and rear and are anchored to leaf springs. Any drivetrain movement is managed by greaseable u-joints on the driveshafts.
Hopefully the new mounts fix the issue for you.
To reduce driveline vibration. Leaf springs are rubber mounted (via bushings) where they bolt to the perch. It achieves the same thing just a different design. What would be the purpose of rubber mounting a differential Guy? That seems crazy.

Scott, you can drive my automatic 4 runner if you want, but I'd need one of your trucks to get around Cape May. I only park roadside.I hope your problem is solved Guy! It's good to see people still working on their own stuff.
As you know, I'm facing rotator cuff surgery in about three weeks. So, I just bought all the stuff I need for an oil change in my '97 F-350, a diesel fuel filter change on my '02 F-350 and an oil change on my Harley. Then I can sit back in peace knowing that I don't have to do any maintenance work during my lengthy recovery.
My biggest problem is that both of my trucks are manuals and I wont be able to drive either one for about 8 weeks or maybe more.![]()
Your planning is the same as mine except I get everything done by the late fall to make it through the winter. Jessica and I have spent way too many times on the ground under my car in the dead of winter. As you know, I'm facing rotator cuff surgery in about three weeks. Thank you Bob, that is a very generous offer. We should be okay though. Dottie can use either of my trucks since she can drive a stick.Scott, you can drive my automatic 4 runner if you want, but I'd need one of your trucks to get around Cape May. I only park roadside.
Does it have CV joints on the drive axles?Even though it needed to be replaced this did not solve my shaking issue.
