I suspect it is underwater when the water is up. It is wood, and the age would put it in the 1800s.

Or rather the 1700's (namely 1765), if John Pearce is correct. See Heart of the Pines, pg. 30. Unfortunately, Pearce does not cite a source for this information.

Do you believe that wood has lasted that long.? I have doubts on that. It may have been rebuilt at some time after.

Cedar has lasted much longer when submerged in water. It could have been rebuilt at some point....
