Boots and walking are on my mind today, although my attire will be slightly different, and (to the relief of all) my gams will not be on display.
Just looking at the costumes of the women in the background, I'm struck by how much they resemble Star Trek female crew uniforms from the original series. Both the song and Star Trek date from 1966 - when I was a junior in high school! 
There is a video of them doing a full concert somewhere, maybe Youtube. They were one of those groups that played their songs in concert the way they recorded them for the album, without drifting into jams or innovations. Creedence Clearwater Revival did that too.
