    Searching on the West Side

That's one of my favorite areas, and most accessible to me since I live near Philly. When I have some free time I'd like to go find the tri-county stone (The picture displayed under teegate's username). Have you ever entered the woods from Atco, via Maple Island Road?

BL England could shut down in May

Pretty amazing to see. They did this near me, albeit without helicopters, and it was cool to watch. In Woodbury the PSEG transmission lines share a right-of-way with the railroad, and it's a busy area where freight trains are passing through every two hours or so, day or night. They handled it...

    RAIN?

My wife had the A/C going only 3 or 4 days ago. Now I'm thinking of whether I should get the heater turned on and the radiators bled! Got home late last night and it was in the 50s inside the house.

    First Beach

This place? https://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.734137957816884&lng=-74.71096006311575&z=19&type=nj2015&gpx= I suppose it's not a bad thing, so long as there is ample room to park your vehicle, and not block the roadway.

Article: Please Stop Tagging the Locations of Your Outdoor Photographs

I personally never understood this mentality. If you are posting a photograph publicly, and it was ok for yourself to visit the location, why should another person not be permitted to visit it as well? If someone is going to vandalize something, I feel they are going to do it without first...

Washington Tpke 745 acre thinning bid

Along Washington Tpk the parked earthmoving equipment is now gone, and red clay fill dirt has been brought in and dumped in hundreds of small (maybe 3/4 cubic yard each) piles all along both sides of the road. Not sure what they're intending to do with it, the road surface is already near...

    Then & Now Photos

I've made some attempts at researching that very question but came up empty handed. I can only remember it in it's current form.

    RAIN?

We were driving north/west on Hampton Gate road around 9:30am sunday, must have just missed you. The weather wasn't great and the only other person we encountered was a guy in a tan colored older Toyota truck.

    Then & Now Photos

Teegate, thanks for posting those. That's really amazing to see how much the area around Hampton's has changed, when I saw the pictures I had to reread the caption to make sure that's really the same place. Approximately what year was the steel truss bridge installed at Quaker Bridge?

600 acres along Menantico Creek preserved in Vineland

Found a few pictures from inside there. If the mods think it's in bad taste to post these, since they were taken by trespassing, let me know and I will take them down. Just to be clear, these are from at least 13 years ago.

600 acres along Menantico Creek preserved in Vineland

Pretty cool. I can't count how many hours and days I spent back there, between ages 8-18 or so. The lake wasn't a lake, as long as I've known it. As far back as I can remember the dam was broken at the south east corner. I know I previously mentioned on here that I had a close call with the law...

600 acres along Menantico Creek preserved in Vineland

I wonder if this means the old Menantico Colony buildings are to be demolished?

    RAIN?

Camped last night at Goshen Pond and though we could hear thunder in the distance most of the evening, we only had a few intermittent showers. Didn't stop anyone else from camping though, every single campsite was full and some drunk people showed up around 10pm who proceeded to set up camp...

Atlantic City Rail Line shutting down for 5 months

If NJT could shut down every train operation other than the Trenton to NY Penn run, I believe they would. In my opinion the low ridership is due to intentionally poor scheduling. You would think a train that runs between Cherry Hill and 30th Street Station would be useful to commuters, but it...

    The flight of a monk

I drove past it one time and some kind of festival or gathering was happening there- lots of tour buses with asian lettering, hundreds of cars with NY and other out-of-state tags, and banners and flags flying all over the front yard. It makes more sense to me now.

Does anybody know what this metal hardware is ?

I had my wife show it to her civil engineer coworkers (including some who do work for burlco and the state park/forest system), and none had any idea! It's hot-dipped galvanized so it's meant to be there for a while. Where is it?

    RAIN?

Since Monday morning it sure has been coming down up here near Philly. Oddly enough my friend in Vineland reported that it didn't rain at all until last night. It's funny the difference 25 miles or so can make.

The Skit Bridge is being replaced

I'm not surprised the planks are being butted against each other. It's a lesson I learned building decks- when working with pressure treated pine that's normally dripping wet from the lumber yard, if you butt them, they will dry and shrink, leaving 1/8" or so gaps. If you try to pre-gap them...

    Best Kayaking/Canoeing Lakes in Pines?

That makes sense. I knew there was a road that headed south towards 49 from the satellite pictures but never could make out where it emerged, and from driving by I couldn't figure it out. Another road in that area I've always wanted to explore is Doughty's Tavern road. I know it comes out to...
