    Public Service Announcement

It must be another masting year. I think we had one two or three years ago. What amazes me is the geographical extent of a mast, covering most of the pines it seems.

    Opossium

First time I ever heard an opossum referred to as cute. I guess when they are babies they can pull it off.

Any luck fishing at Atsion lake?

Hey, okay, I am pretty secretive with my fishing tricks because I know if I wasn't there wouldn't be any fish left in the pine barrens (yes, I'm that good! LOL). But, I have a soft spot for kids fishing, so here is the deal...If you agree to not use the information I give you for evil, you know...

    Snapper

Nice snapper. Probably pretty young (you know like 40). I found a very large snapper in a creek by my house (dead). I brought it back to my house, which was a very difficult and smelly job, and let it rot out in hopes of preserving it's shell and skeleton. Unfortunately, the scutes fell off...

Enduro Club Use of the Pines

I think there was a misunderstanding. I was not implying that fire cuts (plow lines) were a means to reduce the spread of wildfire directly, I was recognizing them as a way of reducing wildfire through their usefulness in controlled burns (which reduce the spread of wildfire). I can see that I...

Blocking ATV Access To Spung's In Wharton

Nice work to everyone involved! The barriers look about as aesthetically pleasing as barriers are capable of looking. I was very glad to hear that wood was being used as opposed to those steel barriers at Friendship. Once again, fantastic effort!!

The Hamlet of Friendship and the Alloways.. The History Behind the Alloway Memorial Stone

Thanks for writing that article Ted, and for the great and rare photos that accompanied it. Also thanks to Guy for putting up on the forum. I recall SureSue saying that her dad used to bring home severed rattlesnake tails for her to play with when she was a child. it doesn't get much more...

    Zeppelin at Lakehurst N.A.S

as a matter of fact, the album cover of Led Zeppelin 1 was a photograph of the Hindenburg going down in Lakehurst. So the connection is more appropriate than most know.

    Upper Wading River

Ed, As Gabe pointed out we did the stretch from the old miller bogs to nearly Wescoat. I also did from the beaver pond in the great swamp toward Wescoat going upstream but didn't get too far once I got into the cedar swamp. It is really choked up in there. Additionally, I went from 206 west...

    Upper Wading River

I've done quite a lot of the more remote watersheds, some un-named tributaries as well. The sleeper is a stand out for it's remoteness. I did a tributary to the tulpehocken once that was really "out there"...that had a powerful feeling of remoteness, and beauty to it.

    Upper Wading River

Nice report, Bob. I have been meaning to do that stretch along the wading for a while now but have yet to. Your report makes me want to get out there.

    Oswego Watershed

great photos Bob. really enjoyed them. That is quite a concentration of pitcher plants. I had someone tell me recently that pitcher plants along the western extremities of the mullica were becoming less carnivorous due to higher nitrogen in the soil from nearby farms (fertilizer)...

    Shoal Branch

Hmmm. there are some beaver lodges in the back of the reservoir and a couple came out and gave me a splashing when I hung around there for too long. I never had that happen before. I was given a few warning tail slaps but then they proceeded to actually splash me when I didn't leave. they...
