    Shooting Star?

Last Saturday night, while driving thru Turnersville, my wife & I saw what we thought was a shooting star, however it seemed very low in the sky. So low, that we thought it may be a firework. We pulled over & hung out for abit, looking for another. Another never came. This past Wednesday...

Apple Pie Hill Has Been Closed To The Public

I'm thinking it was 7 or 8 years ago that they re-graded the road up to the hill and added some new timber guide rails. It made it almost look too "inviting". I remember thinking "This isn't good". I'm glad to hear there's something happening to end the vandals/litters.

manmade field in Wharton and an area cleared many years ago

Dave brought it up & Scott verified it. In the late 80's, early 90's, i worked for Stella Contracting. We had the contract to clearcut the trees outlined in Dave's post. I don't know why we did it, I simply showed up at 5 am, cut the marked trees & went home at 5 pm.

    Small game season opens Saturday

Looking forward to it! We went out last Sunday to get my dog's noses in the game. It'll be Chase's (19 month old Lab) first & Buckshot's (12 y.o.) hunt. I was excited when they flushed a pheasant in Glassboro WMA. I assume it was a leftover from the Take a Kid Hunting program the previous day.

Crossing is out Constable Bridge Road

Last March, I happened upon the washed out pipe from the North. I had to get to the other side of the stream, so parked & carefully hopped across. 2 months earlier, We adopted a 9 month old lab pup. Not wanting to let me out of his sight, he tried to follow me, The water was ripping through...

    Southern Pine Bark Beetle

I was kidding about the Catalpas'. For whatever reason, I dislike them. Probably beacuse the are so fast to germinate & take root. It seems I'm constantly cuttting down small Catalpas on the properties I maintain.

    Southern Pine Bark Beetle

I'm not sure if they affect our pines, but being an RV'er, we're warned all over the country about bringing campfire wood in from other areas. Last year, i was working with a guy from Colorado. He showed me pictures of whole mountainsides where trees were killed by the beetles. Very sad.

    Mott's Creek Kayak Kruiser

"Wuz-a-matta with that there boat?" Great idea, similar to what they do with the canoes at Medford Lakes Canoe Carnival. Scott, is the bar "Mott's Creek Inn"? Looks like a fine place.

    Stinkbugs!

We had about 12 of them on the east side of the house a few days ago. It was the woprst we've had here in Turmersville. Also, we have some taking up residence in our motorhome. In between us using the RV, it sits in storage where the interior temps have been above 110 degrees. The stinkbugs...

Large turkey flock along Garden State Parkway

I came home from a weekend trip Sunday to find 6 in my yard. Typically, they are in the woods behind me, but this time ventured within my fenced yard. My Lab retrievers were going nuts at the sight of them!

    1/4 mile update

The fact that people are being ticketed/whatever else for their actions needs to be spread on the sites that promoted all of the visitors in recent years. As I often say while stuck in southbound traffic on Rte 42 on a Friday-summer afternoon........"Please stay out of my state!"

Bobpbx says "Someone Snatched The Nash"

An "Indian Pump" my grandfather had many lying around his garage. He mostly had larger oblong ones like this; http://www.forestry-suppliers.com/product_pages/View_Catalog_Page.asp?mi=1579 He later acquired a small round model for us kids to play with. They all had leather shoulder straps &...
