I agree, there is no one size fits all solution. However locking it up for just hiking, horses and bicycles which seems to be the new policy is not going to work

    Forked River Mountain

They also thinned out Mountain/Bryant Rd. on both sides all the way to the old fire tower foundation just before Jones Rd. The road which is usually pretty bad was mostly graded. I am not sure if they did that to improve the road or not. In the past they would only grade for access for the...

    Forked River Mountain

On Sunday while driving back from Cream Ridge I noticed a large pile of rocks dumped at the white gate entrance to Forked River Mountain on Lacey Rd. Yesterday I went to the mountain for a visit and found the county or state had started to fill in the washed north side with dirt and large...

I understand that this a forest and there is destruction going on. However forest's are wild places. Not every road will be accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicles. If everyone could drive to every spot in any vehicle it would loose the remoteness we all so love.

    RAIN?

Was down in Millville visiting the east and west bunkers and it did hail around 4:15. I would say they were 1/8 to 3/16 in diameter.

    Changes at Chairville?

Looking at your map then yes, it is the same as Peacock. However, just to clarify things. It may not have said private property, maybe it said private cemetery? Does anyone live near there to verify?

    Changes at Chairville?

Had some time to kill yesterday in Medford. Decided to drive past Chairville cemetery and drive up Sandtown Rd and past Kirbys Mill and finally to check on the progress at the Dr. Stills historic site. I went to pull in front of the cemetery but now it is all fenced in with a black metal fence...

    Forked River Mountain

Yes, Going west on Lacey Rd the most common way is to turn in a narrow trail just before the guardrail going over the factory branch. You will definitely be rubbing the sides if you have a full size truck. There are many other ways but this is the shortest way currently. It will take you to...

    Ammunition Depot

As a kid growing up in Forked River, I heard people talk about how the military stored ammunition in the pines. People talked about bunkers and buildings. I heard they were near the railroad bed. Not too long ago they burned the area between the mountain and the railroad bed. There are now 3...

    Forked River Mountain

Was out on the mountain on Monday afternoon. The county has 3 pieces of equipment at the "white gate entrance" off of Lacey Rd. Driving by I could see a grader and tree cutter, The mountain still looks the same with the north side still eroding badly. The county seems to be taking their time...

    Dover and Lacey Roads

And while were at it there is this old foundation too. It is small so I assume it is a gun club. But always wondered if the access to the creek down the road was to move things down the creek? https://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.89628819385302&lng=-74.3099095857965&z=17&type=nj2007&gpx=

What was the big long one across the street? The road leading to it now has a small gate in front of it right off Lacey Rd. https://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.90167944068464&lng=-74.32315969833007&z=17&type=nj1930&gpx=
