[PPA] Park Police Need Tools to Combat ORV Abuse

Very well said, Bob. The only thing I'd like to add is that you said "They forgot or ignored people like us" You are correct on both. They initially forgot about people like us and then chose to ignore us when we didn't support their plan 100%. What they didn't count on was that there are more...

How do we stop the damage?

Of course before anything would get approved the FFS would have to weigh in. But generally speaking setting up a draft point is usually something that happens in the later stages of fighting a fire when time is less critical. In the initial attack refilling from a tanker is more the norm. Also...

How do we stop the damage?

I agree. While a map is useful I don't agree it's necessary. You can use 1st beach as an example. It's not a road and any map wouldn't protect it any more then it already is. It's posted no motor vehicles. It is only a half a mile from the ranger station and just off a highly traveled dirt...

    Appalachia is burning

We were sent there in 2000 I believe. Talking to the local crews it was all arson. There was a war going on with law enforcement and the illegal marijuana growers. They threatened to burn an acre for every plant destroyed. It was the same time of year too. I wonder if things haven't changed much.

A day I do not look forward too

Yea. I heard there was a lot. I was asked today by someone who lives out there why so many were needed for such a small fire. I reminded him all fires start out small and there are no hydrants out there so they need to bring their own water;)

A day I do not look forward too

When I lived in my townhouse they seemed to bus them in. We would have to just sit on the front porch and has out candy as the line formed. Now we just get a few local kids which are mostly friends of my kids.
