A Creek And Three Branches, A PBX Hike

Chris designed a great hike for us through some very wild pine barrens wilderness. We didn't see any garbage (except for a few old beer cans at a crossroad) on this whole hike. What a great time of year to be out in the woods Guy Chris Can you spot the rabbit in...

    Exploring a Tributary

nope, no fish. The water was very shallow with lots of thick silt. I could see that the water levels have been higher from the water marks on the cedars but I believe the water levels flucuate greatly here. if not for the beaver I believe the water would be nothing more than a small stream...

    Exploring a Tributary

Yes, that is it. I am real curious as to what I found underneath the water. It easily stretches 9' across and nearly as wide.

    Exploring a Tributary

I went exploring an un-named tributary of the Tulpehocken creek today. Must have hit over 5 beaver dams in a fairly short run. despite all the dams the water was fairly shallow through out. As I worked my way toward the tulpehocken the tributary became more narrow...

Forked River Mountain / East Mountain

Where have i heard this before...oh yeah, in the first 15 minutes of every slasher movie made since 1970:rofl: Just kidding. You've gotten some good directions here. You can pick up topo maps from the ranger station in Batsto, or probably find them online. Jeff

    Music for the day

Great song. I've had to cover this a number of times. Perhaps the most popular slow blues song in history. The use of dominant 9th chords in blues was fairly uncommon till t-bone came on the scene. It was a big contribution to the genre. Here is another (minor) slow blues in the hands of...

    Feral Dogs

So you were in a similar situation with dogs when you were growing up. Yeah, even non-homeless dogs get nasty when given that kind of freedom huh? I am also very glad that most people down here keep their dogs under control. I recall Guy telling me of packs of feral dogs running about in the...

    Feral Dogs

Wow! I had a close encounter with a pack when I was a kid. The jab kept me safe till I got to a tree. I was treed for quite awhile. Where I grew up we (people in town) didn't fence our dogs in and they started their own weekend warrior pack. I don't know that they would have ripped me...

    Feral Dogs

I just mention it as a word of caution since you said if a poor lost kitty came around you might cave in. I am speaking from experience, I caved in and all Hell broke loose. I definitely not suggesting you kill them or anything...cheez, but don't be sucked in by their furry cute-ness. They...

    Feral Dogs

Don't admire them too much. They can be extremely dangerous to native populations of birds, rodents and snakes/lizards. They really aren't wild but domesticated breeds who kill indiscriminantly for the satisfaction of humans. it is in their nature now. Please don't feed them. I used to...

    Chatsworth Club

Greg, Marilyn told me that there are some sort of brick columns under the lake that the boats used to use as a landing or something in front of the chatsworth club. was this what you saw?

    Chatsworth Club

Bringing up an old thread....I just picked up a copy of Chatsworth capital of the pines, by images of america publishers. These are the books that highlight specific towns in a historical perspective. Marilyn Schmidt has it stocked. Turns out the woodland twp historical society had...
