Crews Battling Wildfire Along Mullica River in South Jersey’s Wharton State Forest

Drove batsto fireline road from 206 down almost to constable bridge. Most burnt area was around forest island west to Dave’s road, everything else looks like a controlled burn. But were the wildfire hit its scorched earth but looked like a young forest to begin with. It’s so incredibly dry out...

Crews Battling Wildfire Along Mullica River in South Jersey’s Wharton State Forest

I kayaked the Mullica last Sunday and in forest islands the beaver lodges were burnt in the middle of Mullica. I didn’t think it could jump the Mullica there but perhaps it did as the other side was charred completely.

Bob I think you are right based on my walking the area. I also feel like much of this was a real hot backfire because fear of winds at that time. I didn’t see much scorched earth when I was out.

Firefighters going up and down 206, seemed like a flare up in the burn area.

    Kayaking on the Wading Today

I’ve noticed less people in pines then ever. I think gas prices are a limiting factor and with Covid over the people who do have money are back to usual locations for vacation time.

Crews Battling Wildfire Along Mullica River in South Jersey’s Wharton State Forest

Went out today too as well but felt like I may have mostly been on outskirts of the fire. Went down penn swamp road and up Quaker ridge. Then went along the batsto for a while up to Quaker bridge. Everywhere I was for most part looked like a hot controlled burn. Behind batsto looked like...

Crews Battling Wildfire Along Mullica River in South Jersey’s Wharton State Forest

Back fires lit from Mullica crossing at 542 down to batsto road. Then down batsto road to Washington turnpike and ending at penn swamp road. I just got home but smoke was now moving back across 206. Seemed like the fire was moving from behind Richard’s ave towards 206. Much less smoke at 7:30...

I don’t believe there was any restrictions. Seems like they almost know exactly how it started and it was a coordinated mess up.

I just drove down chew out to 206 to Richards Road/Columbia and out on the 542. Past Batsto down Batsto Road and then turned around when I get to Washington turnpike. Got lots of cool photos which I’ll post. trying to triangulate exactly where the fire is. They did lots of backfires around...

Crews Battling Wildfire Along Mullica River in South Jersey’s Wharton State Forest

That to me is the most wild area in the pines back there. Pretty hard to access. Fire will allow that to be beautiful woods for a while. Bad timing though because of nesting animals on land, eggs in nest and shedding snakes in logs. I think these fires devastate box turtles. I will be...

From russos, looks like a big big fire. Assuming it’s in the wedge between the batsto and Mullica?

Tabernacle Becomes Latest Part Of ‘Jersey Scene’ To Make Its Mark On The Big Screen, Though In A Frightful Manner—With A Southampton Landmark Getting

Guy it’s pretty funny you saw that. I haven’t been down butterworth bogs in a long time but had my bikes on my jeep and wanted to take a slower route to parker preserve. We went down the road and saw the same guy under a tent at the curve swinging a baseball bat. I looked at my wife and said...

Had some of the largest hail I’ve ever seen during that storm, very powerful for 5 mins or so.

What they did along Washington turnpike looks incredible and should be done more often.

    NJ Tax Lot Maps

My main concern is alleviated as I thought maybe the markings where development related but it seems most the land is medford, wharton with some parcels privately owned.

Yeah that’s what I thought it seemed like much of the private land was burned. I was a little off course on my bike but I thought I was miller property and not wharton. They did burn well back along the power lines and it looks cleared out a bit. Was very overgrown back there.
