    I was suprised

He did a really nice job. The big hole just past this is also filled in. Today the dozer from the Forest Fire Service is working on Tuckerton Rd between Carranza and High Crossing. We drove in from Carranza and found him working just before the Scary Hill. The photo doesn't do that rut...

    Sunrise at 1/4 Mile Road

If nothing is done the area of 1/4 mile will get worse as they drive off into virgin ground as they are doing now. The area of destruction is not static, it is expanding.

    1/4 mile fun

"it used to be a lot narrower in the late 70's early 80's.." I am very familiar with 1/4 mile from the time period you speak of. It was a very rough road along the RR tracks. What we are speaking of now is not that road but the destruction south of that road into the wetlands. It was started...

    I was suprised

On our walk this morning down by the Batona camp we heard a large diesel engine and the Beep, Beep, Beep of a construction vehicle. We walked toward it and saw this. It was located here http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.794688482399465&lng=-74.62643623352051&z=15&type=h&gpx=...

    1/4 mile fun

Yes, that was the late 90's. The FFS buldozed around the fire creating the access that helped cause the problem we have now, they also leveled High Crossing. It was a very hot fire killing most of the trees there, well maby not killing them but most fell over. It was amazing to watch how the...

    Seeing Red

Last week while drriving down Tuckerton Road from High Crossing to Push Line Road we noticed that all the side roads were labeled in red spray paint such as A4, A5 and on and on. It must have just happened since we are down that way several times a week. There are lots of red arrows on trees...

    1/4 mile fun

As we know from visiting the old sites in Wharton, they never recover even after a couple of hundred years. Even clubs from out of state come here to drive it. Check it out on Youtube. Jeep Jamboree 2008 When you see them at Atsion where do you think they are going? It's not...

    1/4 mile fun

This morning we came upon an open fire in the same spot I posted earlier. There still are some mud pits but most of it is dry and can be walked. Aparently some of the people who go there are afraid of some of the puddles so they are making new roads around them. That place is wasted and will...

    Frog ID please

I was opening the umbrella over my table on the deck and this little guy fell down and stuck to my arm. I put him in an aquarium while I got my camera as he was very active. He crawled onto my hand when I went to let him go and I no sooner got my hand out of the aquarium than he...

    1/4 mile fun

We haven't been out that way for awhile because of the deep puddels and ruts but now it's drying up abit. Saturday morning we parked and took a walk. There was a camp fire still smouldering. There was some fiberglass vehicle parts and a large pile of it that had been burnt. This morning...

    saw my first pine snake

It's ben a good summer for pine snakes. We saw this one crossing the road on July 24th, but made it to the woods before I could get my camera out. It was about 6 foot long and looked very healthy. This one is from Aug 4th many miles away. It shook it's tail at me and it ratteled the dry leaves.

    Raccoons and ruins

Jeff, we took our walk out there yesterday morning, starting at 8:30, before the sun got up over the trees. We didn't hear you but there was a plane doing loops over us. We have been walking alot along the roads off of Push Line. It's one of the few places that doesn't have alot of flies, they...

    The "Project"

We noticed many along a road in the pines today. I counted 25 individual plants in 57 paced off feet. Then We found a field of them up the road. You can see they are doing well beyond the mow line. Yes, white is difficllt to photograph, I will have to experiment to get the range of...
