    Do deer ticks "nest"

By the way, the place you will find the most concentrated populations of adult ticks in the pines will be the savannah areas with high grass. They'll climb out on the ends of the grass and wait for you to walk by.

    Do deer ticks "nest"

Phew. That's sort of a relief, but sorry you found so many. Check your scalp and your down belows, too. They just get everywhere.

    Do deer ticks "nest"

Were the ticks large (adults?) The larval ticks tend to swarm because the eggs are laid in gigantic masses and they all hatch in the same place. When you find one little baby tick on you, it's likely you have more for that reason. If you got all adult ticks on you, God help us all. That...

    Warning: This is a rant

That's not at all true. Cancer used to be a death sentence. Now, more often than not, it's managed through new drugs and procedures. Devices and surgical procedures have advanced a great deal. People with HIV can now expect to live a normal life span due to protease inhibitors. Depression is...

    GPS advice

We have the Garmin 60CSx, and it's an all around versatile GPS that you can take hiking with you, (waterproof), but you can also natigate in the car with it. Maps are in color and you can load topo and street maps on it. I think we paid like $350 for it including an extra 1 mb memory card.

    For the hunters

I think deer, like cattle, could live 20 years or more if fed and housed properly. I'd guess they'd live a whole lot longer in captivity. They're pretty rugged critters.

    Marine Mammal Stranding Center

Aw. That's a great organization, I hope they can stay. If they had to move, they wouldn't be able to afford coastal real estate anywere in NJ. I wish they were closer to me, I'd definitely work there.

    Contrail Conspiracies

I've seen this a lot. My husband is a pilot and finds it fascinating. If you Google "Chemtrails" you'll find more information. One school of thought is that the evil government spreads chemicals on us to keep us stupid. Or something. To turn us into "sheeple". Love the tinfoil hat photo.
