    Yesterday morning in the bog

thanks for your encouragement. I got side tracked with some other projects but I am starting to work on the next album again. I was going to give you a sample but it seems I can't upload Wav files on this site. It will be out sometime in the not so distant future. Jeff

    Lake kayaking

Yes, you are correct, I did do it in a kayak. I didn't have to exit the kayak but I did have some uncomfortable duck downs. Going in at the lake...in that spot where it is gravel along the side (as someone suggested) is probably the easiest route. If you wanted to do the canal, it won't kill...

    Waiting for YOU!

I've been hit about 3 times this summer, with a few stray bites here and there to boot. Hate those things. Do they serve any purpose in the ecology/food chain? If God created Man, I think the Devil created chiggers. Jeff

    Yesterday morning in the bog

I took Jack to the bogs in the Jonathan Godfrey tract yesterday. It was actually my first time going to these bogs although I had been in the woods to the south of them before. We settled into a bog that had about 3' of shallow, sandy bottom, before dropping about 3' in depth. It was...

    Lake kayaking

I just recently took that route (the canal) it is a little longer passage to the lake and a few tricky spots (downed trees). A nice paddle but not the easiest access to the lake.

    Lake kayaking

There isn't a real easy spot. Your best bet is to park my the FP enterance where the gate is and carry your kayak across 532. It is a short carry. Be prepared to encounter some grass (chiggers) at that load in spot.

    The big Burn

Exactly as Bob said. I know one tree stand out there that is in a very small pocket of large pitch pine. He set the stand very high and there is an amazing view. Reelboys, my wife has MS also. It does not affect her cognitive abilities (because of it's location) but I have heard of these...

One mother of an ore pond and something else?

It was Robert Parnes whom I was referring to in my earlier post. This structure was on the eastern side however. The structures you saw might have been further upstream. Hmmmm... We'll figure this out. Jeff

One mother of an ore pond and something else?

The wooden structure is not very far upstream from where the corduroy road meets the river, however, I failed to mention that the wooden structure is on the wrong side of the river. I tried to see what was on the ore pond side of the river oppisite the structure but it was too junked up with...

One mother of an ore pond and something else?

An update on an old thread I posted. I took the kayak up the batsto to see if I could find the landing where the iron ore would have been loaded onto barges. I belive it was Jerseyman who suggested searching for this landing. I found a reference (in a canoeing book) to wooden structures in...

    Fishing this morning

got out early this morning to do a little fishing. Not much luck. Too much sediment in the water, poor visability. Any way, here is a snapper I saw. Here is the southern most bog in that system west of Hampton furnance. There used to be a landbridge near the north end of that...
