they mostly eat insects and I think I recall they have a particular taste for spiders. If you have ever been in the pine barrens in the fall, after a rain, early in the morning, the ground spiders are everywhere. Of course, the rough green snakes spend most of their time in shrubs and trees...

Nice report Mark. That pond on beaver dam road is filled with many of the lesser known fish of the pine barrens (not game fish), of course, there are game fish in there also but not very sizable. Jeff

Nice report. That is an amazing savannah in there. It is a real shame about the dumping going on. It is always worse near recently developed areas. I wonder how the new clustering zoneing is going to effect the amount of dumping. It is going to get alot worse I imagine. Jeff

In the spring, my bird feeders were over run by brown headed cowbirds. Their numbers diminished as the season progressed, but there were always some to be seen. A few days ago I found a dead cowbird under my deck. It did not have any visable trauma. I threw it in the woods figuring it...
