    Structure at White's Bogs

I know that structure and I am pretty sure I posted about it a long time ago. I'll have to go back over my old pictures. It is right at the end of a canal, just before a land bridge/road that leads into a bog. I had figured it was an elaborate water distribution mechanism. I forgot about...

    Constable Bridge Under Repair

I have to agree with Virgos...I think that bridge being out has helped reduce traffic.

"Hidden Lakes" in NJ Pine Barrens???

Old Halfway (hidden lakes) is patrolled by fish and game. I was stopped there by fish and game and they are aggressive in there tactics and unforgiving. There are numerous signs saying restricted. It has many erosion issues due in part to large amounts of ORV use. It is a very cool area and...

    Monday Exploring

Nice report and photos Guy!! I never noticed those foundations by the boot hill gun club or knew of that lot that is part of Wharton near forked neck road. It is interesting that the state owns such a small lot within mostly private land. Is it surrounded by private land? That photo you...

can you camp anywhere in the pines?

$73 isn't punishment enough and $75 is just plain mean. Actually, I heard the going rate for a hooker in Trenton is $74, so kind of makes sense. (OHHHHHH, I'm going to regret typing that!! Somebody delete this post before big brother reads it)

    Dirt bikes!

I think the vast majority of responses have been positive for enduros. Many are unaware of the amount of work and planning that goes into such an event, much for the benefit(or status quo) of the ecology. I think the long standing tradition of the pinebarrens enduro is also unknown to many...

    Pine Barren Memories

Bob, didn't you live in Germany also for a bit? I think you found your long lost brother here! Jeff

Can I wear one of these collars? I mean, if they work for furry dogs why can't they work for us. It will be the new rural fashion. I mean, i wouldn't wear it to a wedding or anything, but casual outdoor apparel. Jeff

    Devious, Bear Swamp, Two Sawmills

that devious area has some of the best open and topographically interesting areas of the pines. Great thinking spot if you can get out there alone. You know, with all the time I've spent with Guy I don't think I ever asked him what it was about stones and property markers that interested him...

    Dirt bikes!

hey Guy, was this by any chance that trail we were on in the plains. As recall, we were trying to determine the reason behind the trail and I suggested (I think it was me) that it was a brand new enduro trail. Is that the same one or am I off on this? Jeff

    Dirt bikes!

not to condone or pardon illegal activity, but couldn't this pine snake have been just as easily killed by a legal vehicle. I will admit that I ran one over once. It was unavoidable. I beat myself up for quite sometime over that, but there was nothing I could do. I saw it too late to react...

    Pine Barren Memories

That is great Bob. Sounded like it was a good place to grow up. Having lived close to there for sometime myself in more recent history, I question if the kids nowdays have it quite as good. One question though....what about that guy you told me about...I can't remember his name now. He was...

    Tick today

I got 7-10 on my pants today. My son got one. No bites (that i know of). I was given that lyme shot also and had a really bad reaction. Ticks suck. chiggers suck too. But, like Bob said, I would take chigger bites over a tick bite. Tick bites just never go away.

    Kayak - More enjoyable

I've done that run also but not quite up to Sim place. It is very nice. I got pretty far in a 17' canoe with my wife, but further in my kayak.

    fishing??????

I've caught pickerel in Pakim Pond and I think a perch once. Nothing big. Fish by the bridge by the inflow-both sides. If you want catfish, go to presidential lakes. It is probably still drained but there might still be some water at the bridge (not route 70). I caught crazy amounts of...

Well, clearly there is no prize for me. I wish I could perform cruel and evil labortory experiments on them also, like Sue. Maybe I'll set something up in the garage (insert evil laughter). Jeff

Yep! Went on a hike with my little guy Jack. He stayed to the path (mostly) but I got in the woods a little and sure enough a mature dog tick was crawling up my leg when I got home. So, am I the first of us to get a tick (or see one) this year???? There should be a prize. Jeff

    Hanover Furnace to Callico, 3-28-09

Nice report Mark!! Yes that canoe has been left there as a reminder of the "big one" I presume. I did a report on the old water tower in Browns mills which are the ruins OJi was referring to but it seems the pics are aren't in the report anymore. They are probably in my photo gallery and...
