    water snakes

Jeff, I think every little kid who is interested in the outdoors collects a few reptiles. Its the guys who continue to do it when they get older and think that they can somehow make a living that way that piss me off. As for the water snakes saw two on tuesday I never try to pick up snakes...

    Some Herps this year

Manumuskin almost backs up to menatico ponds. It is a similar type place with the sand wash ponds but also is connected to the manumuskin river. It personally is my favorite place because of the diversity in wildlife it offers. I know that whole area pretty well so if you want to pm me feel...

If this helps the plant was about six inches tall and the flowers where a little bit bigger than a quarter. It was along side a trail in moderately sandy soil.

    Timber Rattler Behavior

Man you just ripped my heart out with that last sentence. I was getting real optimistic up until that point. Bob, how many years have you been exploring the pines? Only 4 timbers, I don't like my odds.

    Making my first trip...

The pines seem to be hit or miss as far as reptiles are concerned. Unlike other areas you really have to look long and hard to find reptiles in the pines, at least for me. It is not like other areas were you seem to stumble upon nature, you really have to seek it out in the pines. Finding a...

    Pics from today

Been to north central pa twice so far this year. Have seen three woodies but they weren't super active yet since this was two weeks ago and the streams were still pretty chilly, even for wood turtles. As for the boxies I guess I need to wait for a nice wet morning, if that ever happens again...

    Pics from today

Pine warbler would be my guess, def a warbler not too keen on the slight differences between warbler's though. I too went out yesterday, saw a bunch of musks, ton's of fence swift, and then the usual's, looking for spotteds but yesterday was a little to hot I suspect. Nice pics, the spadefoot...

    bald eagle vs. pickerel

Osprey seem to like to taunt people. Down at Manumuskin there are to nests that are right on the trail. I stopped walking the trail because they use to fly about 20 yards over my head. Even now I go way around there nests and they still squalk and harass me. There one of the more aggressive...

    Musk turtles

No, the racer saw me before I saw it, once I did see it he froze for a second but by the time I changed lenses he scurried off into a cedar stream. As for the musks I normally don't get too excited about musks but seeing 30 in one day in a very small pond was truly exciting for me, these guys...
