Drinks at Toms River Fridays on 1/27?

The first computer I was exposed to I never actually saw. It was at Drexel in 1976 and you had to keypunch your data and hand the keypunch cards over to a non-english speaking Iranian grad student. The class was taught by a broken-english speaking Chinese professor. The grad student would...

Drinks at Toms River Fridays on 1/27?

Happy birthday Ben! Only in your 20's eh? You have put together quite a site with your knowledge of computers in your young life. I guess you got a real computer for your first birthday instead of the Fisher- Price Busy Box that I had screwed to the slats of my crib back in 1958! Scott

    Quaker Bridge Road

I came in from Washington Road and that wasn't bad at all. That road can get just as bad as Quaker Bridge Road but it seems like they scarify and grade it more often. Either that or it doesn't washboard as quickly because it sees less traffic than Quaker Bridge Road.

    Sunsets

Here is one from last winter near my house. http://forums.njpinebarrens.com/gallery/displayimage.php?album=random&cat=10177&pos=-2667

    Quaker Bridge Road

My wife and I and the dog were out in Jemima Mount and Mount area yesterday and didn't see a soul all afternoon. I will post a few photos tonight. We were geocacheing and found the first leg of ecampbell's (biscuitman) 3 part cache. We couldn't finish it because we couldn't find part two. It...

Steer could still be roaming the Pines

I heard a rumor of it being in a piece of woods right behind Largo's house between Christmas and New Years. A very unreliable source told me that one his wife's friends came up on it while riding her horse. If I heard it from her I would believe it but I haven't seen her around to ask her...

    Dodged a bullet last night....

[It was an Alanthis(sp?) That's one of the largest ailanthus trees I have ever seen. Most people would cut them out as saplings. Here are some useless tidbits from my forestry days at Rutgers. Most of the time you see ailanthus in dense clusters growing around spoil piles or other ground...

    Dodged a bullet last night....

Nice dodge Steve. Looks like it snapped at the base. Was it dead or heart rotten? We had no power down here all day which means no water from the well (no flushing a toilet) and no heat,(electric driven forced hot air with an oil burner) We walked the woods tonight in the dark and came...

    PBS "Country Boys"

Ariadne I happened across it too by flipping and was hooked. I didn't realize it was a 6hr +/- documentary. I tuned in when Cody was graduating and he told his parents that the school had named him "valevictorian". When I hunt, I visit a lot of backwoods towns in Northeast Pa. and I can feel...

    Body Works

Bob One of the most compelling reasons to believe in God that I have ever heard was a quote from a well known coroner in Philadelphia who's name I can't recall. It was in a television news interview. It was a few years ago and it was blunt and hard-hitting. I will quote as accurately as...

Good Day In The Deer Woods

George On our side of White Bridge the only thing in is winter bow. The turf farm side of Albertson is the shotgun permit area that's in until 1-31-06. You probably saw Wagon Wheel in there. Scott

Good Day In The Deer Woods

Beautiful day in the woods today. I was in my climber by 6:30 a.m. on a crisp silent morning along Great Swamp Branch. As soon as I hoisted my gun into the tree, I could hear the steady cadence of deer on dry leaves coming toward me. I never even sat down. My knees were knocking waiting to get...

    Pine Lands license plates

I firmly agree with Boyd. Licensing and registration fees for these special plates have to be handled by too many lifeless slugs at the MVC before they make their way into the proper hands. Supporting a conservation group directly minimizes administrative costs and is likely more beneficial...

    Sawmills

Both of the clubs that Largo is referring to have had some nearly deadly accidents amongst themselves. One guy that I know who is a former member of Rosedale Deer Club near Largo's house took a 00 buck pellet to the head from one of his fellow members. The pellet took a trip under the...

    Sawmills

Bob They would have had to be the drivers. I have yet to see a club dumb enough to drive a piece towards a road. The general scheme of driving deer is to drive towards escape cover. If you follow the edge of any swamp around here you will generally find an inconspicuous trail skirting the...

    Sawmills

All zones are currently open for muzzleloader until tommorow, Jan. 6, 2006. The permit shotgun seasons reopen on Saturday the 7th and remain open until 1-31-06 in most every zone. There are some zones like 49 that have permit shotgun until February 11. Here is the link to the regulation...

Is anyone familiar with this area (coordinates enclosed)

It isn't sand, it is a grassed wetland, commonly called a savannah. It appears brown because generally aerials are taken in winter when vegetation is down. That area is State owned. The private property ends at the last active bog as you come in from 206. I have hunted woodies in there and...

    Happy New Year

I am a boomer.47 years and counting. Younger people in work look at me like I discovered fire when I tell them there were only 48 states when I was born and Eisenhower was the President. :guinness: Scott
