That is actually a piece of the recovered airframe, I was told. Also, the man speaking is Venustiano Carranza, a grandson of the President of Mexico with the same name. I believe Emilio was his great uncle.

Given the timing of when it probably started, my first thought was fireworks, but of course that is pure speculation. Only 20% chance of any rain overnight tonight. It is up to 60% tomorrow afternoon, although even then, only 0.1 - 0.25" in the forecast...

Looks like that's correct. It just means that if you enter, you have to follow the regulations of the refuge you're in. I definitely didn't know this either. (From here)

Just to the northeast of Batsto, along the Batona. You are absolutely right - it does indeed have thorns; I missed this when taking photos. Although, they are thorns of a different kind. Whereas sand blackberry has those classic rose thorns on the stems, these are more like modified branches...
