VIIRS satellite is detecting heat anomalies off Carranza again - but this seems a little odd, because this area just burned pretty thoroughly in the Tea Time Hill fire in July. It may be in that one little section that did not burn very hot?

At least one version of this is sold as a "wrap kit" with decals in all kinds of color combinations and you can do it yourself at home. The absolute strongest I saw it get was at Batsto - the blood-red sky behind the mansion really was visible with the naked eye. At other points, long exposures with the camera were necessary to really see the shape and color properly. Adjusting your eyes to the darkness also helps significantly.

I've heard rumors for many years that ShopRite was going to put a liquor store there, but it never happened. Maybe it'll go forward now that the tavern has been demolished.

Yes, I went back there recently and saw that too. The same morning I met Fred Miller. It's sad. I think it was only a matter of time, though. The tree looked half dead last year. At least I got some nice shots while it was still standing.
