    Kayak Suggestions?

Just starting to look into maybe buying a kayak. Looking for something to take me down the Mullica, Batsto, etc. - mostly short trips. Something easy to carry/light, yet tough. Does anybody have experience with inflatables in the Pines? How much should one expect to spend? Ocean kayaks...

Goshen Gathering: Informal Sunday Night Music Jam?

Music at Goshen I would love to come and hear some live music. Goshen is close to me, so it would be quite easy to swing over and meet some of you folks. SJ is seriously lacking in venues for live/pickup music and having something like this sounds like a great idea.

    Sharp's MTN

Can you point me to that map? Best I can tell, it's very close to the State Forest boundry and I was hoping because of it's elevation - it may provide a drier route/path from the "hook" part of Wharton (between Atsion & Jackson Rds) down to Old Jackson/Acto Rd (near the intersec with Atsion...

    bear tracks

Bears in da woods I noticed they had the state info card about how to deal with bears at Batsto, but figured it was not locale specific. I would bet a Forest Ranger would know for sure, or a good hunter familiar with the area. Anybody know a Wharton Ranger with the scoop (official/...

    bear tracks

Bears in Wharton? I happened upon a large Black Bear at daybreak while riding along old Mine Rd. couple miles south of Dingman's Ferry Bridge last year. That experience got me thinking about bears in NJ and if they might be in Wharton, which is just a couple miles from me here in Medford...

    Abandoned Bogs

Land Pres Ah, I did not notice the ref to 313 on that sign. I've gone as far as that sign - so it would seem the West Jersey Cranberry Meadows is 313 Land that has an additional license for bird hunting. There are other yellow signs down the powerline easement, north of WJCM around...

    Abandoned Bogs

313 Has anyone seen the yellow posted signs that say "Land Preservation 313"? Clueless as to what that means -- private, public ? Anyone know ? Maybe a Medford thing? The bogs (Jobstown) must have been abandon for some time, there are lots of mature Oak, Birch, Cedar trees growing in...

    Abandoned Bogs

ah ha - good info Thanks Guy, This site is great, should have found it long ago. I've been asking folks about this area for a year without much result. So I guess my place backs up to the old Jobstown Bog -- the maps in that thread are spot-on. With these facts, I'm sure I can find out...
