    Interesting. The man who did the portraits is George Vail. One of my instructors when I went to tech school was also George Vail, an engineer, inventer and artist. I wonder if it is the same man. Steve

    Old gravel pit near four mile circle

    That was an old gravel pit. Back in the mid 70's some friends and I went there to swim. There was a very high ridge that we would run and jump off of. You had to jump pretty far as it was a slope. One of my friends lost his footing just before the jump and ended up sliding down the gravel face...
