    Cicadas

I'm always on the lookout for a blue-eyed cicada, but I understand they are about one in three million and the eye color fades when they are dead. Nevertheless, I would like to find one.

Tracks blocked by thousands of trees

The trees near Carranza have been like that for a couple years. It is a strange thing.

Bitten by a dog (DOG BITE PHOTO)

That's exactly what I did . . . more like the mouth, apparently. One ended up rather bloody.

Bitten by a dog (DOG BITE PHOTO)

Interestingly, I was attacked a couple weeks ago by two dogs as soon as I got out of the truck for a short hike in the woods. These were boxers. Your wound is worse than what I had. Mind you, I fought back.

    Ear

Guy, my life has been spent getting things stuck in my ear. Just last week I had about my 20th Myringotomy. It's the price of being me. Having one's ear pierced (internally) is painful no matter how good the drugs are (and I have some good ones administered). Nevertheless, never have I had...

    My "ultimate GPS" quest continues...

Out of curiosity, what kind of deal is Comp USA running now? I have a desire for a PPC w/ GPS at a low price. :)

    Tuckerton Fish Factory

I have been there. I think the island is a great exploration. As I recall, it was about a mile paddle. There was a stiff wind the day I went there, which made paddling more difficult. Lots of poison ivy, as I recall. The catwalks looked tempting, but that would surely present problems.

Thank you for the information. I appreciate it.

    Batsto to Martha

I am not certain what is considered Pleasant Mills Pond, but I presume this is the same. The path bordered by my non-straight blue lines is what I was referring to.

    Batsto to Martha

I spent the day in Wharton checking out various sights. I arrived just before sunrise and actually had to wait a few minutes before my morning hike. I did a couple miles on the Batona before meeting Ken at the visitor center. The rain, which had been a downpour all the way up, had subsided...

    Up Nash's Cabin Way

I photographed the same tree today. There was another nearby too.

    Up Nash's Cabin Way

Interestingly, it is because of the felled cedars at Nash's Cabin that I am here. Someone saw a post I made about what I saw and introduced me to this site nearly five years ago.

    Heislerville/thompson's beach road

I time my explorations for low tide. I have never had a problem. Of course, the beach is available by kayak too. I highly recommend timing high tide properly based on the length of time you'll be there in going by water. Low tide means there is not enough water to get back. I know this...

    South Jersey Magazine

For the record, I believe a year ago the price for this set was $200-$250.

    South Jersey Magazine

The original South Jersey Magazine stopped publishing a few years ago. The entire back catalogue is available on ebay though.

    Frost

On Wednesday I was attacked by mosquitoes in the marsh. It felt like summer.

    Brew your own beer?

I have a homebrew set-up. It's fun. I use Beercrafters as well; good folks there, but they do not respond to e-mail.

Former "Jersey Guy" taking over Don Imus' slot

I remember Carton from WIP. He wasn't very good there and from what I have read, has continued that. Radio is an interesting business wherein those who generate buzz make money, even if they have little else to offer.

    Micaja S Rd.

Thanks. It's good to know I can get close even if it narrows right where I want to be. Piney stripes are the after-factory add-on that adds character to the vehicle. I don't mind them, but I also don't want to scrape the paint off either.

    Micaja S Rd.

I am looking to travel up Micaja S Rd. to around the following coordinates: 39.69697 -74.31336 I will be coming from the south. Has anyone been in this area before? How navigable is this road? What is the best approach? It appears there is a service road beside the GSP. I...
