    Pole Bridge

Guy, you have A.G.E. disease. My brother Tom M and I both have it. The main symptom is your mind say's "I can do this", and your body says "no you can't, not any more" :). Greg

    Pineys

You lived in Metuchen? That's where I'm working now, at the Amtrak substation, built circa 1930.

    Big Storms

My brother Tom and I are having our canoes fitted with those big sand wheels disabled people use on the beach, so we can reach the water :)

    Big Storms

Thanks, I'll certainly check that out. I got the flu shot in October and still got the flu in January, so with my luck I'd end up with shigles from the vaccine :) Greg

    Big Storms

I think I remember walking to midnight Mass in a lot of snow (10" sticks in my mind). Then we went hoping cars :) . 65 or 66 would be about right. Bob, the chicken pox vaccine must have come along later because every kid on our street had them within about a 2 week period in 93. My parents...

    Big Storms

Storm #1 my son got chicken pox and the drug store stayed open for me to get there for his prescriptions. Storm #2 my neighbors had planned a big party for family, but since the snow kept them all home the whole neighbor hood went over (why let all that food go to waste :) ). The others I...

    Suzie-Sam get-together....

Yeah, I didn't think the beets looked good either. Everything else looked tasty, though. :) Greg

    Suzie-Sam get-together....

When I worked at the power plants at Salem, the "rat" dinners were a big social event with the locals. I would have tried one, but none of my car pool buddies would. Also, the plant worked us at all hours and I could never schedule to get to one. Someday... Greg

    Crosshairs

I don't have anything to add to the discourse already put forth in this thread (politically that is). but I know as a parent I had to leave the room when he mentioned the little Green girls name, it was too much for me too take. Whatever the courts dish to to this guy, his punishment will never...

    Swamp walk at sunset

Swamp walk in the snow I went back out to the swamp this evening and took some more pictures with the swamp frozen and snow covered. Again, a nice place to watch the woods grow dark. Greg

Amazing Spectacle: Total Lunar Eclipse Monday Night

Thanks to all that posted pictures, they were great. My son and I were out to watch but we don't have a camera to take good night shots. It was a really clear night and it was neat to see the stars come out as the moon faded. Greg

    What is this building?

Years ago, while waiting for my daughter during music lessons I had the chance to play a Gibson J200. It was without a doubt the best guitar I've ever held. Tried to convince my wife I really needed one, but she wouldn't go for it, something about the price :) Sorry didn't mean to go off...

    Swamp walk at sunset

I had mentioned in a previous post that one of my favorite times to be in the woods was at sunset. This past sunday I went to a favorite spot, a swamp I've hunted with my son. Sometimes it's dry, this year it has a fair amount of water. Almost there. Almost sunset An old stand. This is...

    Waterfowling The Pines

You read my mind, typical pickerel fisherman! As far as hunting, I also enjoyed getting out in the dark and watching the woods brighten as the sun came up, or late afternoons watching the woods slowly fade into night. The pictures and story were great. Greg

    Who/what would you be?

In that time period, I wouldn't have lived past 19 years of age. With that in mind, I guess I am quite happy to live in the era I'm in. Greg

I had heard the DEP did this in the early 80's but I was skeptical. August 4th 1981

Although I don't remember any official protests, I know (personally) one blueberry farmer who wasn't exactly happy with the thought of black bears in his fields. As I've never seen a black bear in the pines, I assumed the state never implemented the plan. Greg

Oh No, there is a spider in my pants!!

Jeff, Being extremely allergic to certain spiders, a spider in my pants would have freaked me out! The first two pictures, though, had me looking longingly at my fishing tackle wishing I was off work. Greg

    Rails At Double Trouble

Guy, Years ago my brother and I found metal spikes and I think it we were in that general area (he was driving so I'm not sure exactly where we were), and I said they reminded me of miniature railroad spikes. We didn't see any rails though, just a few scattered rusty spikes. I wonder if they...
