    afterglow

All the pictures are great. My 2 favorites are the 2nd from the bottom on post #6 (it's haunting) and the 4th from the bottom (the reflection) on the last post. Thanks for posting, Greg

    First Snow

Agreed! 2 to 3 inches might be nice, 2 to 3 feet, not so nice (other words come to mind, but this is a family site). Greg

    Poking along the Tulpe...

Turtle, You had a fantastic day, Tuesday was really nice. I enjoyed the pictures. One of your pictures was bladderwort. Is this the same flower in my picture? They were in an area normally under water, but it had been dry this summer. The picture was taken 9/25. I misplaced my field guide and...

to the end of the land

I went part way down the canyon (foolishly, in retrospect) 2 or 3 years ago. I'm definitley a Jersey boy hiking wise, I'm too used to flat pinelands and cedar swamps. The terrain in the canyon was brutal for me. It was really beautiful, though. Greg

to the end of the land

I enjoyed the pictures, they were great. My wife and I love that part of WV (Canaan Mtn and the Blackwater areas). This is the first year in 5 or 6 years we didn't go. The girls were too busy planning my daughters wedding. Your pictures will have to hold me over until next year. Greg

    If your a birder.....

This time of year (fall migation) you can almost go anywhere. My favorites, though, are the Lighthouse and Sunset Point (where the concrete ship is). I saw more Sharped Shinned hawks there in one day than I'd seen in my entire life a few years ago. Enjoy. Greg

    Smart Thinking

"the new plan also gives students more priviledges and responsibilities, along with serious penalties for violations" Sounds like real life to me. I went to a vocational high school (where they sent the bad kids, as my friends said). The atmosphere was more like a work place than a high...

    Stinkbugs!

Yay! We're saved! (just kidding) I did my annual shed clean out on Sunday. There were so many stink bugs I tried one of those foggers. I set it off, shut the door and waited 2 hours, opened the shed door and they just about covered the floor. Greg

    Feral Dogs

Jeff, When I used to trail run (often alone) I had a seemingly curious dog follow me for awhile before it lost interest. I had a bad feeling about it and picked up a good sized stick for my return run. On the return trip the "curious dog" came right at me snarling. I was lucky my jab hit home...

    Chatsworth Club

Jeff, I took some pictures a few years ago with a disposable camera. If I can find them I'll scan them and post. Or I could just show you where they are sometime. They are easily reached with waders or a boat. Greg

    Birthday trip

You're right, we've caught all of those, it's a good spot. Saturday Tom also caught a really nice sized panfish in addition to the bass and picks. Last year I caught my biggest pickerel in my "secret spot" back in the grassy area. In the process of unhooking it I also caught myself. I can laugh...

    Pine Barrens Happy Hour

I would really enjoy putting some faces with the names. October, though, is going to be an absolutely crazy month as my daughter is getting married on the 16th. I'd like to try to show for a short spell this Friday, but November may be a better bet for me. That's if I have any money left by then...

    Flowers

Decided to post some flower pictures from Saturday's trip seperately. Saw a lot of these. A nice pitcher plant right at the waters edge. This area is normally shallow water. There were a lot of these growing. Some type of berry? There was just so much to see. Greg

    Birthday trip

We were at Batsto. We fished the lake and a good distance upstream and the fishing was the best we've had this year.. Thanks for the ID on the pitcher plant. I have some other flower pictures to post later. I've misplaced my field guide to wild flowers of the pine barrens so I may be asking for...

    Birthday trip take 2

I wanted to post a few more pictures and didn't know how to add them to my previous post. A nice Pickerel Tom caught. A decent bass I caught. The water was freezing! R & R. A perfecr ending to a perfect day. Greg

    Birthday trip

Since turning 50 I've went on an annual canoe/fishing trip for my birthday. Tom M and I went out on Saturday, and it was a perfect day to be out. Hope you enjoy the photos. Greg This is Tom M. This is me. Is this a pitcher plant? It was in a swampy area where we got out of the canoe and did a...

Bone Dry II: The Sequel (No 1/4 Mile References)

I've hunted and hiked a swampy area in Winslow for years. When I first started hunting the swamp was pretty well dried up, this is goiing back 20 years or so. Then we had a few wet years and I had to move my blind because of 2-3 feet of water. It's went from dry to wet and back to dry 3 or 4...

The mystery Bog and a Nantucket sleigh ride

Wow, nice! I don't think I'd swim in that lake. Jeff I also fished a lake Saturday that had all the signs, but up until Saturday I had caught one Pickerel total (I'd fished it 5 or 6 times this summer). I can't figure out why, but they were biting on Saturday. I also saw a Bald Eagle fishing. I...

    Where is the Shrouds house??

When my kid's were little we would go by that area after we went to Forsythe NWR. I usually tried to leave as it was getting dark. I told them it was the old house where Leeds point Road tuned left out into the marsh (I think someone still lives there), and then I'd tell a spooky story about the...

    The Jemima Cyclone

I wasn't in that exact area, but on my way to Quaker bridge on July 3rd there were areas where there were a lot of trees knocked over, all in the same direction. It was from the storm earlier that week (not sure of the date). Driving home from work that day there were some really big trees in...
