Mt. Misery Brook access from 70?

This time of year the Batsto river is usually a good trip. The water level is stable and not too many obstructions. I went Quaker Bridge to the lake last week and was pretty much alone the entire trip. I swam at every sandy area I came to (it was hot!). The water was really cold and felt great...

    Piney Displaced.

My wife and I have vacationed in WV and Kentuckey, and I've had quite a few really good enjoyable conversations with "local" people. We love going to both states. The culture is different but they are people just the same. I've also had similar conversations with "pineys" with the same results...

    Deer are nasty!

My stomach hurt I laughed so hard while trying to keep quiet (at work) so people didn't think I was crazy.

    Bullheads????

I've caught blacks in Chatsworth Lake, I used minnows from the bait bucket that had died. But like someone already mentioned you need to get your bait to the bottom. Good luck and have fun. Greg

    Egg Harbor River

I did it from Winslow road to Piney Hollow Road a few years ago. One of the guys had a chain saw and we needed it. We cut some trees out and there was a lot of portaging. We had a good time, but it was a lot of work. The area is very beautiful. Greg

    jim ungehajer's illness

I never met Jim in person but we swapped fishing stories on a few occasions. I always enjoyed his trip reports and pictures. My condolences to his family. Greg

    Owl Cam

Denise and I laughingly refer to the young as piglets instead of owlets. They have incredible appetites. My wife saw McGee (the father) throw a mouse in a few nights ago and Max (the oldest owlet) swallowed it whole before any of the others got a chance to touch it. We've seen them eating mice...

    Owl Cam

Guy, My wife Denise are hooked on that site. I have insomnia and I'll check in on Molly, McGee and the owlets in the middle of the night. It has been really fascinating to watch. Greg

    Flooded

Jeff, The ground water in my area is the highest I've seen it, and we've been in our house 24 years. The wind on Saturday snapped a few fence posts. I pulled what was left of the posts out of the ground Monday night to replace them, and as of last night the holes were still half filled with...

    Flower ID

Thanks for the help. I thought that's what it was at first, but I had never seen it in such an open sandy area before. It was in the burnt over section of the plains off rt 539, pretty far off the road. I was amazed that only 4 months after the fire things were already blooming. Greg

    Flower ID

I took this picture in September 2007 while bushwacking in the plains. It was 4 months after the fire. Sorry for the picture quality, it was a disposable camera. You can (just) see the small purple flower. Can someone tell the ID? I wish I had a better picture. Thanks for any help. Greg

    Leeds Point Road?

Greenheads, and the biggest mosquitoes I've ever seen (or felt)! The refuge is a beautiful area, though. The Jersey Devil house is "reported"? I thought it was the real one :). Greg

    happy '10

Hope all had a very merry time bringing in the new year. Denise and I on the other hand had an unforgettable new years eve for two reasons: 1st the bad: My wife ended up taking me to the emergency room because of dizzy spells. I swear I had not had anything to drink (yet). Not my normal every...

    Merry christmas everyone

I Hope all had a very Merry Christmas. I know we did! Kids all home, family came over (my brother TomM, Dee's mom, sister and family), just a great day. A neat twist is that Dee's sister married into a Jewish family. Since they don't celebrate Christmas they all come to our house. They even...

New Jersey: full of unhappy people?

I live in a small development in Winslow, yet I'm only a seven minute drive from my deer stand. I go there often just to sit and think. Greg

Oyster Creek Power Plant cooling tower

http://content.usatoday.net/dist/custom/gci/InsidePage.aspx?cId=courierpostonline&sParam=32298423.story Not sure what the consensus is on nuclear power here, but at the size of the plant (by comparison the Salem/Hope Creek reactors are each about double the output of this one) they may close...
