    It's snowing......

It snowed for a few hours in Princeton today. It was AWESOME. :)

    Exploring the Hot Spots

Fantastic! I bet Jessica said a bad word when she fell. I wish we had the time to go and explore this weekend. I love seeing what becomes uncovered in the wake of a fire. It's incredible how it leaves completely clean spots, like a big broom came in and swept out all the underbrush.

    Mount Misery

You have apparently never been to Fluffy Bunny Rd. at night. It still gives me nightmares. Someday I may be ready to talk about it. :(

    Mushrooms.....

You mean you need a reason not to eat box turtles? Male and female members of the same species can occupy fairly different niches so competition between disparate sexes is reduced, so yes, I think it's plausible that there is a correlation between sex and food preference or intake.

    Is this fast food?

That makes my stomach hurt just looking at it. It's BIGGER THAN HIS HEAD! Isn't that, like, against some law or something?

    The Economy

Me too, Ben. It's an emotionally charged time for all of us, I think, and it's hard not to get riled up at every turn. I am counting on this abating just a little when the election is over. The whole thing is making me totally mental. :guinness:

    The Economy

I have adopted a head-in-sand approach. But honestly, if I do allow myself to go there in the middle of the night, I am toast. My 401K has lost an ungodly amount of money, and that is with the safe investment strategy. But like you said, Ben, I am trying to see the big picture and not the here...

    Adams, Martha, Nash

We have happened upon that gun club on Oswego Rd. ourselves, quite by accident, and wondered what it was.

    I absolutely hate...

Ah, I thought this might be about the campaign. I can't seem to decide which of the two I hate worse.

    Insecticide can decimate tadpole populations....

Nice photo! The problem is that we don't seem to realize that the most important organisms are the teeny ones. They are at the very foundation of the life support system, and they are often the most delicate. Heck, life on earth would not exist without bacteria. Without the tiniest of lives...

    Is this fast food?

Ooh. You must tell me where this place is.

news for motor vehicle woods travelers

Actually, there's a good ecological reason to prohibit motor vehicles in some areas. soil compaction leads to all sorts of problems with the native flora and fauna. And like Ben said, I think this has always been the case. At least I hope it has.

"The Ecological Pine Barrens of New Jersey"

Me too. I have been dying to learn this stuff for a long time but could not find a central piece of information.

    NJN's "Life on the Delaware"

Thanks for pointing this out, I am one of those "river people", and I would love to see it!
