    SWEETWATER RIVERDECK Opens 5/17/13

Great views, unobstructed by any nearby buildings. :smug:

    Checking in

I had meant to check out Crater Lake, but I ended up going north along the Old Mine Road far enough that I didn't want to backtrack all the way. Do you have any pictures of the lake?

    Checking in

I ended up heading there this last weekend. It was a perfect day - the weather was wonderful and you could smell flowers blooming and spring in the air. There were a fair amount of people out, but it seems like they were mostly south of Calno. I was sad to see that the Van Campen homestead...

[May 18, 2013] [CANCELED] NJPB Atsion Get-Together/Tour (Vincentown, NJ)

I'm calling off the tour. There really wasn't much interest. Maybe I'll try again later in the summer.

Can I get an idea on the headcount for this? If there's too small of a group I'm going to cancel.

There is nothing about a fiddlehead that looks even remotely appetizing to me.

    PowerPot

Yeah. I've been meditating over how uncomfortable I am without my phone near me. Even when I left it in the truck as I explored some places yesterday, I felt like I was missing something. It's something that I need to change, although I rationalize it by saying that I need to be reachable in...

    Life Begins Anew

I was out driving along Calico Rd. yesterday when I came across a scorched patch of ground. I noticed what I thought were orchids popping up in it, but on closer examination it looks like they are baby ferns of some kind: Life Begins Anew by benruset, on Flickr Any idea what they may be?

    Friendship Bogs and Other Things

Interestingly enough, I was in that area yesterday. Didn't see another soul for most of the day.

Some folks find it hard to unplug. I was out in the pines yesterday, just hanging out in an idyllic spot, and had a very hard time trying to ignore my phone. I do agree that the iGo is probably way more practical than the PowerPot.

    PowerPot

Well, you can't carry extra batteries for your phone. It's basically useful for devices that have built-in rechargeable batteries.

Pine Barrens, Drones, and the New Aesthetic

The Pine Barrens "somehow" escaped development. Hrm, maybe that has something to do with it being (generally) closed off to development? I'd feel better about the article and the artist if they just came out and said "yes, I want to look at Google Maps and then do some low-cost aerial...

The Powerpot seems like a pretty cool idea. Shame that it's so expensive.

FYI, we'll be meeting at 1pm, probably walking around the village for a while, and then doing a tour of the Richards mansion at 2pm.

Atsion: Part 3 – To the Modern Day

Interesting that his widow moved back in, because they apparently were either never married or got divorced and she moved to Vincentown. In his will he refers to her as his "alleged wife" and his daughter as his "alleged daughter."
