    Sandy aftermath

Thanks to everyone who sent along some money this morning. That was nice to wake up to. I'm still waiting on FEMA. I can't get any info from them at all. Other people are seeing adjusters come out the next day, getting calls, etc. I guess I'm a lower priority since I'm a renter? I tried to...

    Sandy aftermath

So today I just found out that renters insurance does not cover flood damage. I put in a claim with FEMA yesterday so hopefully they will come through with something for me. I have a line on an apartment that I can hopefully stay in for a few months. What may be the most helpful to me is if...

    Sandy aftermath

My house was destroyed in the flooding. I lost nearly everything. I am safe at my moms and am just trying to figure things out.

Pine Barrens in for late season hurricane or big northeaster?

Right, except that it seems like the wind and rain isn't going to really hit us until tomorrow, from what I can tell.

Pine Barrens in for late season hurricane or big northeaster?

They announced a voluntary evacuation of my neighborhood a few hours ago. I'm in the process of packing but I think I'll leave only if things look bad.

Pine Barrens in for late season hurricane or big northeaster?

I think the hype with Sandy is more than Irene, which is odd considering that Irene didn't seem to be so bad, at least in Central Jersey. I know the pines got hit pretty hard. I'm hoping I get a few days off so I can go out to the FRM's and take some pics of the post storm erosion.

Pine Barrens in for late season hurricane or big northeaster?

FirstEnergy (JCP&L) have already started to tell people to "prepare for the worst" - 1+ week without power. Knowing JCP&L, that might just happen. I got through Irene, in Princeton, with just losing my cable modem for 2 days. If I lose power here in TR for an extended period of time I might go...

Pine Barrens in for late season hurricane or big northeaster?

The erosion along Jones Rd. and the road up to the top of the Forked River Mountains was really bad when I was there last Saturday. I think those roads are going to end up being impassible. If the road up to the mountain becomes impassible except to those on quads/dirtbikes/etc. I can see...

Can someone loan me a book?

I want the whole book. I was just hoping that someone close would have it so I can drive and pick it up.

Can someone loan me a book?

Does anybody up in my neck of the woods (Ocean County) have a copy of Atsion: Town of Four Faces that they could lend me for a week or two?

    The Name 'Cedar Bridge'

This is what Zinkin has to say about the one in Brick Township: Cedar Bridge - for the cedar logs from which it was made; in the east part of Brick Township, over the Cedar Bridge Branch, near the mouth of the Metedeconk R. Cedar Bridge, Vill - for the bridge nearby; in the east part of...

    Recent Vandalism at Brooksbrae

Here's the kilns from Henry Charlton Beck's time (circa 1920-1935.) From Forgotten Towns of Southern New Jersey. You can see how much has deteriorated over the years. In Beck's time the kilns all had their roofs intact, and the brick archway that frames the photograph is still standing. Keep...
