The History of the Cedar Bridge Fire Tower

Thanks Teegate. I can see in your photo where you might think that the tower had an electric meter. It was very brash of someone to shoot into the cab nine times!

The History of the Cedar Bridge Fire Tower

I have come across several cutoff telephone poles along Bryant Road and had always thought that they where for carrying power to the fire watch tower. However, the article states that the tower did not have electricity. Did the poles carry lines to feed power to Howardsville or some other...

When's a good time to avoid snakes

It is a Woolly Bear. If you decipher the riddle of its color bands, you can forecast the severity of the coming winter.

    Sawmill Locations

Very cool! I will have to check that out the next time I am in that area. Is there a pit or any saw dust piles?

    Gangnam Style?

I didn't know about the film! I will have to watch that closely. Maybe my friends and I were caught on film. There is a book and website about the club - check out the title of the book! It is the same as the club rules. http://citygardensnj.com/book.htm

    Recent Vandalism at Brooksbrae

To all of the good people on the forum, be careful when you walk around the ruins. The area is loaded with Poison Ivy. In fact the collapsed drying tunnels are filled with plant. It also overhangs the walls. If you walk along the front and the area where the tower is you will fine. Just be aware...

    Webbs Mill flooded again!

The road won't fail where the pipe is buried beneath the road. The failure will occur forty feet past the pipe where the water is overflowing and crossing the road now. Today, when I drove through the overflow it was much deeper than the level of the road. Deep enough for me to feel a thump in...

    Webbs Mill flooded again!

This is the critter after I spooked him earlier this year when I was walking along the edge of the water by the back road.

    Webbs Mill flooded again!

Honestly, I don't have a problem with beavers. I just would like to see the animal that resides at Webbs Mill captured and released in an area where its instincts won't cause harm to an area that is unique for its location. BTW - tannerite looks like fun!

    Webbs Mill flooded again!

During the week, I had a go at the corrugated pipe, but it was next to impossible because the rodent has filled the inside of it. The risk is too high now. There is a large pool of water behind that dam, and if it is carelessly breached, someone can get hurt.

    Gangnam Style?

Did Jim work the door? I remember a bouncer who had a key chain made of fake I.D.s he confiscated. It looked like a R0llodex. The club was a eclectic mix of society. 90 cent Dance Night on Thursdays and concerts from any of the bands of the time that couldn't get any radio play, made an...

    Gangnam Style?

Yeah that was a hang out for us! The bleachers made from counter tops was the sign of a top notch club. Nice neighborhood to put a rocker club in too. The greatest two shows I ever seen were Jane's Addiction and Siouxsie and the Banshees, both at City Gardens. The house Dj was horrible. I think...

    Gangnam Style?

I can remember when bands played their own instruments, wrote their own songs, and could actually sing. Anything up to '93 or so is good music. I can even remember MTV actually played music videos. 120 minutes was a great show and so was the Headbangers Ball. The mid to late 80s and early 90s...

    Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey

I'm glad that you know what I mean as a starting point - Belmar via I195 and then RT 36 up the coast towards the City. Barnegat or Tuckerton would be the first stop heading south down the coast because I would hit RT72 first. Any travel plans for this weekend depends on the weather tomorrow...
