    Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey

Thanks PW and 46er. My only option for a starting point would be to drive to the end of I95 and then turn north or south. One day for each "half". If all conditions are perfect, could the challenge be completed in one day with several drivers?:clint:

ridin to power lines nj pine barrens

If this is Colliers Mills, which it very well may be, it is closed to vehicular traffic and clearly posted. The road under the lines is very popular with the neighboring developments. http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=40.07761170170407&lng=-74.40964937210083&z=15&type=h&gpx=

    Lighthouse Challenge of New Jersey

I wonder if it is possible to visit each and every one of the lighthouses in a weekend. Sandy Hook to Cape May, plus all of the ins and outs, sounds like a challenge. Hmmmm... a cooler full of sammies and frosties and a few friends packed into a vehicle could make for a great road trip.

    Chatsworth Lake Boat Access?

Can a small boat fit down the canal? I can't remember its depth but I think it is possible to back right up to it off of the highway. Here... http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.815127076800785&lng=-74.55236971378326&z=19&type=h&gpx=

    Webb's Mill and Carusoeville

Ben, I didn't see anything when I walked the branch. I was looking for plants at the time, so my focus was elsewhere. Sometime this winter I will definitely return to area again and take a closer look now that I know there could be traces of industry hidden away in the area. Any thoughts on the...

    Webb's Mill and Carusoeville

I agree with you. One of the most beautiful water ways is the Webbs Mill branch. I have have walked its banks from the beaver dam to where it joins with the Chamberlain branch. Tough going at times but well worth it. The water is crystal clear with a bright gravel bottom. Some spots are deep...

    The NEW Beer Thread

The Continental has great food. They serve evil cheese steak spring rolls and pulled pork sliders as appetizers.I normally stop in around lunch time so my usual meal is French dip and beer battered onion rings. They use Yuengling beer in the batter mix. Tasty! The crowd is older and the beer...

Great News If You're A Pine Barrens Hiker

They are persistent creatures. I have found ticks on me in the dead of winter and with snow on the ground.

Great News If You're A Pine Barrens Hiker

Yesterday morning I was in the area of Rockwood and along the Mullica until noon. I don't have a single bite on me, even though I was in grasses knee and waist high for hours.. The cold Friday night and the cooler temperatures Saturday probably just slowed them down for a moment. We are going to...

PW, there is a very huge difference between a hunter and someone who is shooting deer. A hunter respects the land, the hunt and the harvest, while someone who is just a shooter, is out to to enlarge their ego and is out just for the kill. The latter is normally the loud mouth you hear boasting...

Great News If You're A Pine Barrens Hiker

I just finished by chemical warfare campaign with a fine coating of Sawyer's to the interior of my truck. Perme and the cold should finish them off. Of course, I will probably bring in the next batch of torment tomorrow after hiking. The joys of the Pines!

Great News If You're A Pine Barrens Hiker

I hope my truck gets cold enough to deactivate these devil spawn. They have hitch hiked a one way ride into my vehicle and over stayed their welcome. I find random bites on me every couple of days. The shop-vac made my interior clean but did very little in removing the stragglers.

Pineywoman, go out and have fun. You will be safe.;) Some facts for us all, from the National Safety Council - The odds of being killed by a hunter while hunting is .0015% - .00425%. For a non-hunter, the odds of being killed by a hunter is one fatality for every twelve million recreation days...

Manu, it was either Browning or Remington that made the vest. It was made of neoprene with a chest protector and grab handles built in. It was camo with a pair of wide orange stripes. I must have tried ten different brands before I found one that fit the best. Does your Lab dive? My Mick use...

Have you ever considered putting a blaze orange vest on your Lab for this time of year? I had a protection vest for my Golden Retriever when I would hunt duck and upland game. He was visible and it protected his chest when he jumped to retrieve. Damn good dog, he has been gone for some time now.

Exactly. The only reason a I am concerned about the location of hunters is because I don't want to ruin their hunt because I am passing through for a brief moment, while they have been sitting in the tree all morning. That would upset me if I where in there shoes. I have never been worried about...
