    Is this fast food?

If I'm going to eat something so obnoxiously unhealthy, it had better be chicken fried steak slathered in white gravy.

    Needles

I think dumping bio-hazardous waste in the ocean is illegal.

    Is this fast food?

Oh, apparently you can get this in America. It's called the Burger King Quad Stacker. I could imagine trying to eat that after a long hike. I'd be dead in an hour.

    Is this fast food?

Hungry Jack's is the equivalent of Burger King in Australia. 1000 calories! I can't even imagine that. Who could eat this thing?

If only more people thought that way instead of being selfish. The world (and the Pine Barrens) would be a better place.

    Mary Ann Forge and Cranberries

Gabe, I may have found an answer to your question. I found a reference to the bogs being in operation in a book on Google Books. The book, the Annual Report of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station for the year 1888 mentions: So we know that the cranberry bog was in operation circa...

    The Slag Thread

I've seen Batsto furnace slag carted all over the place. Gabe should be the one to chime in on that one.

I bet the cranes (at least the red one) are the ones repairing the Lacey Rd. overpass on the Garden State Parkway.

    The Slag Thread

Well, the reason why I thought that the vitreous slag came from higher temperatures was because the glassy slag I found was at Martha, which I know was a hot blast furnace. It also seems to be lower in iron content, whereas the slag that seems to be higher in iron content and not glassy at all...

Well, Apple is not without it's faults as well. This is my second time switching -- Leopard is good enough to keep me around. :)

    The Slag Thread

Thanks, Jerseyman. So you think that an earlier cold-blast furnace could have produced "glassy" slag depending on the composition of the iron and flux?

You can buy Dells at Best Buy and Wal-Mart now, I think. I switched from Dell to Apple. :)

    The Slag Thread

Gabe and I have been having some discussions about iron slag. There's furnace slag and there's forge slag. This article also talks about foundry slag. From what I've seen, there's two types of furnace slag. Slag that I've seen at Batsto, Hanover, and Federal Furnace (Lakehurst) looks like...
