    Scene, Yesterday

I think Frank was mistaken. A William Torrey helped (or did) develop Lakehurst and had a son named John. That is not the same John as the famous botanist John Torrey of New York. I think Frank put 2 and 2 together and came up with 3...

From the North Side of LBI

I suscribe to the "Readings from the North Side"...Beach, Ocean & Surf Reports from North Beach, Long Beach Island". Being in a state that has both the pines and the shore is a gas. Since I live 8 miles inland, it's nice to see some daily reports on bird life, surfers, weather conditions etc...

Girl Scout Camp in Berkeley Township?

Some of you east of the parkway in Berkeley Township probably know about the Ore Pond canoe access on Cedar Creek. Have any of you ever heard of a Girl Scout Camp at that location?

    Remember Seabreeze?

"This is peaceful, serene," said Anderson, resting contentedly on a plastic chair. "My grandson was 'pop-pop' popping me all day." "No wives here," Harden said wisely." Amen! :D

    Scene, Yesterday

Marcia, how about that one large house cattycorner to the school on Union Avenue. The owers recently put up an 8 foot clock or some such on a lawn that had a doctor's name on it. It might have been Pitts as you say above...ie, the Dr. Pitts House. I would not mind hearing a synopsis or two...

My first Orchid of the season

Sorry Ted, I confused things a bit. In the second email above, showing the yellow orchid, I was actually speaking about the white one above it. But I get what you are saying. You are saying both are P. cristata, but the white one is simply different because it is white.

My first Orchid of the season

Ted, maybe you could help with a name. This is from about 8 years ago. I found it in my photos when looking for something last night. I found it in a place you are well familiar with...the same tributary of Cedar Creek that Karl did a survey on for the Nature Conservancy. I read the report and...

    Music for the day

Complimented by a full orchestra nearly 40 years later, this version of love train is astounding for the energy created. Look at their outfits, I like how each one wears whatever he wants. What a sound!
