So you were that kid with 12 color Crayola Crayon box! :)
No nerves struck at all. It just cracks me up that on a forum comprised of a high percentage of male posters you choose to comment on the "gayness" of a nuanced description of beer. This on a site where the guys all love birds, pretty flowers, and cute little frogs. :D
Can you understand why I might ask you for a "manly" description of something that tastes like chocolate....what other word works??? What makes chocolate a "gay" word?

O.k.,
I'll bite. Feelin' really bad I hijacked a perfectly good thread.
My crayola box was a myriad of color, yet just one. Too Zen for ya?

Seems to me I never singled out "chocolate" as a target, merely a plethora of ridiculous names for beer. Forget the topic, read the posts, single out the beer names. It's laughable, that simple. I like to laugh. One might say the same of the many hot sauces out there now. They all have raunchy XXX names but most lack flavor and add heat. Beer, it's light, it's dark, it's hoppy, whatever.
I know I myself prefer a beer I just about can't see through but I'll still drink bud from a can (damn.) and tonight had 2 Coronas which are way down on the list of anything beerworthy.
Birds, pretty flowers, froggies... it's all part of the scenery friend. Doesn't make a man, or a woman, or a site odd. (I'm gonna stop usin' "gay or queer", somewhere I struck a nerve there rest assured)
Hawkin',
I'll say this. You've got a fine eye for birding and a great camera lens. You've taught me a thing or two about a thing or two and thanks for it. If you like your beer, queer, dark or otherwise, bravo. You've got my attention.
You've however already demonstrated early on in your presence here that you like debate, debate for no good reason and dissention without due provocation. Your signiatures speak volumes to that. Your many fascinating and generously shared interests aside, you've just jumped on another topic to find adversary. It's a sadness.
Don't trouble yourself to know the depths of me, you won't. I'm not gay, I love chocolate, I love beer, birds are cool, and Whip can make a frog look pretty palatable. It's all good.
By the way, It's still just beer.

My friend at work sometimes hangs around an older gent, 6 foot 7, and built like a Mac truck. He won't drink beer, says "its dirty". To him vodka is the drink of choice due to its uncanny ability to simply "deliver the goods".

He's right.
I'm more or less a liquor fellow myself, or haven't you noticed?

Dude,
Yo! I love your little dude in the Avatar.
I'll pull my hijack back and pen not another word save for the greater good of beer on this thread by my honor sir. I turn you back your worthy topic.
You are definately the driver on this ride. How the Blue F! does one fellow have so much beer in him? (I mean beer info, no beer, no uh... whatever)
This thread has made me able to B/S my way through a beer conversation or two so keep the info coming!

Largo,

What was the beer you said you had at The Silver Fox? Speaking of which, that place really looks closed down now. Do you know if it's still open?

Dude,
Nooooooo good beers there by your refined standard trust me.
She had Bud, Coors light, Corona (most of this crap can be found there in coolers with ice) Nothing on tap that night. I drank VO most of the evening as a trade off and eased into a beer before Scott & I left.
A Yeungling Black & Tan that had been skunked, skunked, and reskunked.
Label was all but off as well as the taste and probably the expiration date.
That was about the high end beer offering that evening. I suspect it changes with whatever she gets shipped in on a bargain at the time.
I was by just this eve' picking up my daughter from Hammonton school and it looked quiet but I've been by recently and seen the lights on. Who the heck knows? I'm still due for a stop in and a little more info gathering before she kicks out on me.

Seems I'm the one who's struck some nerves. I'm not bothered, in denial, or at the least concerned about drawing the fire of people who consider themselves aficionados of ummm, oh yeah Alcohol. Trust me all, I can cover your bets on that topic just fine. Enjoy your beer please. Trust me I enjoy mine. I enjoy and draw humor reading about you enjoying your beer. This is one fine thread.
I will have to say though, Thoreau speaks to me here again.
"Simplify, Simplify"
It's beer.

I was completely joking about the denial thing. A lot of beers have strange names these days. To be honest, Im not too picky at all. Ill pick up a Pabst or an expensive micro and still smile. I probably wouldnt have picked up the beer with the long name if not for the name (and the word of mouth by some friends). A lot of it is in the advertising these days with so many brands to choose from. I also have to say that it breaks my poor heart everytime I grab a four pack because I know dam well Ill be missing the other two in the near future :( Wish theyd get over that!

Gabe,
Back on beers... and the Fox. Coming home from my daughter's concert this eve' driving by at approx 8:30, The joint was open and hoppin' with a parking lot full of... (1) one car (besides the Caddy). Given our respective proximities, of which I am a little closer, let's indeed make a plan for a stop in one night. Beers may be questionable but the experience is worth it. In my kind of retrospect is really is a piece of local history. So if you'll lower your Ale standards, let me know.

I'd be up for a visit as well.

Begin a plan.
It's not PBX, but you'll still feel like you've been on a trip.
There are other worlds than these. It ain't a cedar swamp but it'll leave you with a little glimpse of something, unique.

Honestly, the place gave me the creeps when I went there. But if the company is good, all is well. However, rather than succumb to shit beer, I think I'd rather try out some aged liqueur, or perhaps a port (if Foxy has hidden there).

The Bud and Girls Light should be fresh but the Yuengy B&T was definitely battle scarred.
Even the whiskey menu was limited and she had to search for a few minutes to come up with a bottle of Jack for me.
The place has a surreal feel to it, especially the dining room which looks like it is waiting for a huge dinner rush that will never come.
I would like to hit it again before its gone for good.
So far, it has been my experience in life that no one lives forever.

Im sure the days of old took the cake, but if there was an award for the traditional "bar of the pines," what would be some suggestions. I've never made it down to the Silver Fox, but it sounds cool. Heres some of my personal favs:
Woodshed- Chatsworth
Hedger House- Chatsworth
Mayo's- Chatsworth
Pic-a-lilies- Shamong
Cranberrys Pub (formerly Harrison's)- Whiting
Plain Janes- Jackson
Green Bank Inn- Green Bank

Always looking for a new stop. Hows the Sweetwater Casino? Never been.

Let's get over there.

I would make a stop over there to meet Foxy and sample whatever she has going on there maybe booze. Driving home from the shore on a Friday night about three weeks ago I saw 5 other cars there in addition to one we know is always there. Must of been a banquet!! My son was with me so I did not stop by. I'm in for next visit. I am on vacation June 7-17th.
