Replacing Bridge on Carranza

My mom showed me a county informational letter mentioning that a bridge on Carranza road is going to be replaced. It did not say which one.

Also, have you noticed that the recently finished section of Carranza road from 206 to Tabernacle is being dug up because the drainage pipes are sinking. I was told that was the reason from a man I work with who lives in that area.

Don't know but it is scheduled for this year so look for it happening by the end of the year. The county has three other bridges also on the agenda this year.

All,

I am going to do a week by week report on the bridge work at Friendship, so we headed out there today to photograph and video it before the work begins. On arrival we found two men from the Department of Transportation unloading the cement barriers they are going to use to completely block the road.

As we were leaving one of the men waved us to stop and we both swear that he was a twin of Ben. Anyway, he asked what the big deal was with taking photo's of that bridge because just as they arrived there were a bunch of other people there doing the same thing. I told him I had planned on updating the progress on NJPineBarrens.com and he seemed to know about us. Maybe he may check in or post some info that may give us some insight on what is going on. He also informed us that the work may not start until Tuesday.

oh boy, when the county does bridge work it takes forever, bet it takes twice a long as as it supposed too, seen it many times before, LOL

Here is a video of it on youtube. I can post them there now and show them to you. The one problem is that TeeGate was taken already so you have to settle for IslandTee.

You can even rate it and make comments on it so it should be interesting what shows up. JG may still be lurking out there If they become negative I can turn it off. My interest is not to be rated, just to have a place to show them to you.

I was on the bridge today also, around 11:30. It's the 1st time I've been there and wanted to see it before it was fixed/repaired/replaced.

This morning we traveled with my mom to the Friendship Bridge to check out the progress before taking her to other places. The workers were there so I asked permission to walk over to the bridge and the one I talked to had some concerns. After seeing who I was with he allowed me to take some photographs. I made sure that nobody was in them. So here is week two.

My mom talked to one of the men and he said it was 106° there one of the days this past week.

We took a nice ride Sunday, Across high crossing to Washington, then up over Hawkin Bridge and on to Frienndship. At the S turn in the road close to Alloways Rock, the road is lined with high bush blueberries and they are loaded. We took our fill.

I understand that the reason they are doing this is that it's part of an agreement with the Indians who have won that recent court battle, and are now entitiled to open a casino at Speedwell. They plan to put it right on the river by 563, with a paved parking lot accomadating 1500 cars. The bridge needs replacing for delivery trucks (casino construction materials, weekly food and supply delivery), and of course it will be more convenient for people coming over from Philly.

Phase 2 of the casino expansion will be another one on the Martha Furnace site. They plan to have an 1800 room, 12 story hotel there, with a perpetual fountain and fireworks every night. It will be named "Pine Iron City Casino".

I can hardly wait. It'll be fun, and bring much needed revenue to financially cash-strapped communities.

You forgot the water park at Harrisville. I hear they're going to start dredging and cleaning out the canal next summer.

shortly after Orleans will get permission to build condos at friendship and harrisville for the workers, the justifacation would be "there were once housing for workers there" and the courts would agree

Yes they are. As we were there two of the four men were drilling the holes for those new boards shown in your photo. They look like they are in good shape so I don't see a problem with them failing. I found it interesting that there was a 4 ton limit on the bridge and the man there told me they drove the truck across it with all of the cement barriers. That is much more than 4 tons.
