Well said Al. I would tend to agree with you on this.

Your meadow vistas are lovely, but I am most touched by the Pines in winter dress--such varied hues of burgundy, green, and brown!-- and their exquisite mirrors, your specialty.

Thank you, Whip.

Where did you go?
Out.
What did you do?
Nothing.
But what did you see?

A lone sentinel, arms outstretched, guarding fields of gold.
The crinkled leather perch of an elvish prince.
A lustrous silver palisade, and beyond, the dark and bristling lodge
of a Temakwe lord.
A whiskered giant crouched in pinewood shadows,
muttering to his beacon-stone.
Enchanted pools: crimson . . . beaten pewter . . .
tapestried bronze . . . crystal-glazed blue . . .

Oh. Have a good time?
Yeah.

My camera is 3,000 miles away, serving another across the pond. In its absence, I'm having a hard time adjusting to a small Canon PowerShot.

Also, Alfie has again deserted me.

Today I joined up with a photographer who toted along about $10,000 worth of equipment. I was humbled.

I want my babies back.

I'll take any of your previous photo's over anything that comes from ten thousand dollars worth of equipment. Money doesn't give one everything.

I spent 1300 on a new Canon dSLR & lens back in Sept. and get the best pics as far as color goes, out of that camera. I couldn't be happier with it. What I would do with the other 9 large, who knows?? So Whip, as said before by others, I wouldn't be disappointed in the photos your taking with your gear.

Yeah. To be honest, I'd be scared to death to take expensive equipment to the insane places Alfie leads me. There on the Tulpehocken the other day, my photo partner pulled out a bus of a lens that had to be valued in the thousands.

Thanks Chris and Guy. Your words hit home.

Yes Glo that is normal for august.Drought does not affect the barrens as quickly as other places because the lag in the water table dropping due to lack of rainfall takes some time.It takes months of no rain to appreciably drop the water table in the Cohansey Aquifer but on the other hand a hard rain that would cause flash floods in the desert or take out bridges in the mountains will generally only raise barrens rivers negligibly if they are already low.The aquifer is like a sponge without the wicking power. As it rises streams fill and extend upstream,as it lowers upstream sources dry up.In summer especially a hard rain shows not much effect since the trees and shrubbery suck up much of the rain and the rest goes into the aquifer to be doled out as gravity and the porous sand rations it to progressively higher levels as it fills up and lower levels as it drains. If you want to see the Tulpe in flood try march thru may in an especially wet spring. The area in the photos will turn into a small lake then but the water must really be up.
