Ruins on the side of Washinton Turnpike

So I was driving from Washington to Batsto on the Washington Turnpike, and to the right about a mile before you come to the Batsto fire tower there is a cellar hole about 50 foot off the road and a well. The hole has some decent size tress growing out of it and a good amount of bricks. The well...

    Careers

I really appreciate all of your feedback on this, I still am not 100% sure of what I want to do with my life. I am not even sure about what part of IT I am interested in. There is also a school called UTI for automotive training, although they will not give you an ASE cert unless you meet...

    Careers

Well, I am at the point in my life where I am still not exactly sure what I would like to do with it. Im 23 on April 17th, and got my high school diploma and have been working unskilled labor since. My dad owns a lawnmower shop and I have been working with him for years, I know my way around a...

    Google, Aserdaten, and Carusoville...what gives?

Wow, it even shows Red Oak Grove with Rt. 539 passing right through it! And Great Bay blvd. in Tuckerton is marked as Mystic Island. Learn something new everyday (sarcasm)

    The Stone Hills

Great information and insight as usual Guy. If that is the gate or Flemens, it makes sense. As soon as I walked in right off the trail you see the small mound to the left with old red bricks and stone. I will make it out there agian soon, and push through them briers and see if I see...

    The Stone Hills

I went into the briers yesterday afternoon to look in the area that the 1858 map shows the Tavern as being, I only did a quick scan of the area, nothing thorough. Where about is the clearing and driveway? Private property? I hiked the trail towards Hampton Furnace for a few hundred yards and...

    From "Flemens" to "Fruitland"

Good finds, I was out there yesterday for about an hour looking around. I've found stones also, most of them covered in thick moss. I will do more searching next weekend. 150+ years can really take thier toll. That 1859 map that Guy posted has alot of great information on it. I also noticed that...

    The Stone Hills

Does the gated road that led to Hampton Furnace from Hampton Gate still exist? Im sure the gate itself is long gone. I've read that the Hampton Gate Tavern was a stone structure, is there anything left of it at the base of the hills? A cellar hole maybe? I've been looking at old maps and there...

    Country Lakes....Bottle Dump????

Not sure on that location, the only bottle dumps that I know of are further towards Vincentown on the Rancocas Creek. I've found lots of old bottles along the Rancocas, usually embossed blob tops.

    Bogs

Let us know how the fishing goes, I am going through fishing withdrawal, I can't wait to get out. I do freshwater and salt, I've pulled some decent Pickerel out of Oswego lake and Absegami. I always catch and release, unless it's a doormat size Flounder on the bay of course. :words:

Early Morning Search for the Second Inscribed Rockwood Stone

Awesome find guys! Good work I have one question (please correct me if I am wrong). I am guessing that the stones marked with the year 1871 are gone? And that means that there are or were stones with different dates? I am interested

Plane wreckage at Bear Swamp Hill

Has anyone seen the show dogfight show with Hunter Ellis on the History Channel about the F-105 Thunderchief? That was pretty cool watching that. I showed my grandpop some pictures of the landing gear, he said it brought back memories, he used to fly them.
