    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

Huge thanks to Ed Campbell for letting me know that uploading GPX files was broken, and also giving me a nice GPX file of the Batona trail! http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.77368931657885&lng=-74.55312664154917&z=11&type=terrain&gpx=batona-trail I did notice that it takes 10-15 seconds...

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

I've added a bunch of locations and POI's to the drop downs in the controls menu. I am sure I am missing a lot - please let me know if there's anything you think I ought to add.

Trip report: Pilgrim Lake Campground and Bass River SF exploring

Friendship-Speedwell Road used to be paved and it's in a sorry state now.

    Bloody Ridge

Anything is possible, but I think that even the great state of New Jersey could come up with a better way of honoring famous battles then naming an obscure dirt road after it. I think Boyd's idea of the trees bathed in orange and red in the sunset is the best idea so far. Unfortunately this...

    Bloody Ridge

The only one I know of is the one you're thinking of - Cedar Bridge, which was more of a skirmish than an actual battle. Since the Topozone link in Boyd's post no longer works, here's a link to it on NJPB Maps...

Plan to put gas pipeline in Pinelands spurs ire

This is one of those things that I can totally see the benefit of doing, especially to get rid of a coal fired power plant but, at least in my opinion, the CMP trumps it. Once you let one pipeline in it's a slippery slope letting other things creep in.

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

I just dug out my old iPhone 4 and tested it - it looks perfect now. I also tested it out on an iPad 2 - looks good there.

Goats to defend NJ historic site from poison ivy

Yes, however I don't think I'd like $12k worth of RoundUp running off into Sandy Hook Bay or the ocean. Sandy Hook has one of the worst infestations of poison ivy. I doubt the goats will be able to get it all off the hook, so the birds will still have plenty to feast on.

    Weymouth Ruins

Well, after 15+ years of running around the woods, I finally made it to Weymouth. As I was poking around one of the raceways I saw what appeared to be a metal axle of some sort in the water. Does anybody know if this was the axle to the water wheel?

Well, it's turning out just as I expected. I'm going to take time off and stay home. Time to start saving for a house.

New Found(?) Gun Clubs/Cabins in the Pines

They just dropped the name "Goodwill Camp" when they updated the topographic maps. That is definitely the Ironside Gun Club http://maps.njpinebarrens.com/#lat=39.81910165742574&lng=-74.30417545112607&z=17&type=topo&gpx=...

    Announcing the new NJPB Maps

I have not tested this on any other mobile browsers besides the iPhone 5. I'd be interested in hearing your experience with the maps on Android devices. I'm interested in getting more points of interest and locations added to the Jump Menu. If you want to submit some, please send them along to...
