    Whats the possibility??

A rattlesnakes rattle is LOUD. There is not really like a slight rattle by them either, its either full bore or nothing. A rattlesnake rattle is loud enough that you would hear it from 100 feet away or more. Also they are really unlikely to rattle unless its super warm or if you almost step on...

    Dry Forests

Boyd I did notice suprisingly wet conditions on 49 near union road and some other places along 347. Beyond those areas it is dry as a bone though. In one spot 3-4 foot vernal pools are just small puddles.

    Drought coming?

I think its going to be bad. I was down in deep south jersey yesterday and I was shocked by how dry it was. I don't even think amphibian breeding could occur in some spots this year and the species that load up on food in march, april, may then go aestivate during the heat may be impacted bad...

    Calling all Volunteers!

Ok I was aware of the cedar plantings. Wasn't sure if they were reforesting another section of uplands, such as the old blueberry fields or somethings else. Knowing those guys that wouldn't seem like something they would do. But more cedar plantings makes sense, I like that.

    Dry Forests

At this time of year I've haven't seen the woods this dry along with vernal pools in probably 10 years. Vernal pools that are normally full until July are bone dry. We really need some rain soon.

    Park Police

I've noticed since around late summer 2010 they have had a much better prescence out there. Unfortunately I need to get them up to speed on what to watch out for because they seem not to be aware of some less obvious threats to the ecology out there.

    Curly Fern Enduro This Sunday

Al, there is some event that runs in the summer. I saw fresh flagging and arrow signs around Caranza in about August or September last year. A few friends told me they saw several dozen enduros the next day.

Nice part is it has a gps feature in it. So you could find out where it is as long as its still functioning.

Yes which is why I've held off for a while. Something tells me the profit margin is quite high.

    Live Hawk Cam

The one pix controller camera that sends images through email or text is about 1300. That includes the remote wireless trigger. Also that doesn't include the monthly data package. Even after that expense it doesn't help in regards to hiding the unit...one possiblity is placing it high up in a...

    Live Hawk Cam

Thanks for the replies guys. Dogg that pixcontroller stuff is pretty cool. The undercover eye raptor is awesome but can't be purchased by the general public. I have trail cameras I've used but they are noticeable and once noticed normally trigger extra searching by the poacher because they...

    Attention NJ Forest Fire Service

Guy that is sort of what I was talking about and have been seeing. I think there was a fresh squared off area in Lebanon that I don't recall seeing before and couldn't understand why it was there. I don't have a problem with fire breaks because many time the create nice habitat for critters...

Does anyone know what kind of camera they use for these nests? Is there a local power source or running off batteries? I've been interested in putting up something like this at often poached locations.

Scott, they did this in Mt. Laurel too. I agree it seems real wasteful.

    Attention NJ Forest Fire Service

Bob I think local meant you live in the barrens but don't want them to build there. I understand what your saying 100% and local I think the building comment is more directed around the plains. Local I think like Bob said he understands the risk of forest fires and possible destruction to his...
