How's the hiking at/around Makepeace WMA? The place seems to be a pretty big area of land. I heard the entire lake was fairly shallow, how about what types of reptiles/amphibians and birds, or bear anybody have seen in the area?

That's terrible. Here at Mainland Regional Highschool (you probably heard) that we have 4 bomb threats within a week/two weeks.

never seen a pheasant, idk if you can find them in the pines or not.. i know there are a crap load of wild turkey though

yup, seeing an eagle now isn't a rare sight... didn't bird or herp much this year, did see 5 bald eagles, though

here in atlantic county i've been seeing plenty of crows all year long

he's right... global warming is VERY real. i don't know if anybody has seen al gore's showing on mtv or vh1 i think it was, but he's been all over the world with scientist studying this global warming. ie: 35% of greenland has melted since 2002. and one more thing.... we do have black widows...

Checked out my marbled salamander spot saturday, no luck! This is strange, last year I found dozens around this time of year. All I managed to turn up was a leadphased redback salamander, whipee. Checked garter den, nothing was out. So I spent my time setting up tin/boards instead.

The turtle probably won't freeze.. on sunny days during the winter you can actually see them out basking or swimming underneath the ice. This time of year you can find marbled salamanders, and in the winter in tiger salamander season. On the sunny days you can catch some garters out basking...

it's just an eastern garter snake, the only venomus snake we have here in south jersey is the timber rattlesnake, which is endangered.. close to extirpated.

Who actually removes the deer? Where do they move them to? I wonder if it's any good money.. sounds like a fun job =D

Is anybody familiar with some old RR Tracks off Rt. 40 near MaysLanding? Are they even still there? Also, has anybody ever found or heard of Timber Rattlesnakes being found in Atlantic County. All of the ones i've heard of have been in either Burlington or Ocean Counties.
