I'm trying hard to see the merit in comparing the 2003 invasion of Iraq to our invasion of Germany. Anyone care to shed some light on this?
Maybe someday you would want to.............. if we stay the course.
Steve
I'm beginning to see that facts carry virtually no importance in the debates but I thought I'd add a few more thoughts on the war.
When some claim President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following...
FDR...led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year.
Truman...finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,334 per year.
John F. Kennedy...started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. Johnson...turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year.
Clinton...went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us. He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.
In the years since terrorists attacked us President Bush has ....liberated two countries; crushed the Taliban; crippled al-Qaida; eliminated Libyas nuclear program, and captured Saddam Hussein who slaughtered 800,000 of his own people.
The Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking, but...It took less time to take the Iraqi army than it took Janet Reno to take the Branch Davidian compound. That was a 51-day operation.
We've been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton to find the Rose Law Firm billing records.
It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chapaquiddick.
WW2 was 63 years ago and we still have troops in Europe and Japan. Talk to me in 63 years about troops still in Iraq.
Ted Kennedy was no better. This man has room to judge the President? HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.
Steve said it, the Democrats have constantly hindered any easy way for us to stay the 'course'.
I hate politics anyway. But I'd rather know the facts than what the media feeds me.
Unfortunately the "course" has been hampered every step of the way by the Democratic party.
You seem to be under the impression that an administration can act solely on it's own. That is what the Dems would have you believe, until they are in power of course.
We sprayed a little Raid and the roaches came out of the cracks. Are there more on the surface now than there was before? You betchya! Hand me that can of Raid.
The question is, do you think that these terrorists loved us before the war?
How are you less safe?
We now know who our enemies are. Before 9/11 we were sitting here fat and happy, unaware of the danger.
Tom, you cannot be serious. Still talking about Ted Kennedy? Lets fast foward just a bit. Stop listening to that fat ass Rush Limbaugh. Are you a "dittohead"?
Where do you get your "facts" Tom? Sean Hannity?

Well I tried to get them from Al Franken's station, but his network went bankrupt. Let's be real Bob. Both sides suck. I'll just take the lesser of the two evils. Your entitled to your opinion.![]()
Well I tried to get them from Al Franken's station, but his network went bankrupt.
For years he was not complying with UN rules and sanctions and he probably should have been dealt with years ago. What good is the UN if they do not enforce their rules?
He should have said "we are going into Iraq because we don't know what Iraq has and they have not played by the rules." [/url]
If he had said that, the war would have never started. Besides, how is what goes on in the middle east any of our business? We're barely able to run our own country.
Iran is not supposed to be playing with nuclear power and they are and they are sticking it in our face.
Who decides that? The US? The UN?
Europe is in more danger of a nuclear Iran. Let them deal with it.
Oh, I just thought of this. The Dems also voted to go to war with Iraq and now they talk like it was all a bad idea, well you voted for it didn't you?
People were blatently lied to. If you have the President and his staff coming on TV, going in front of the UN, and saying "we have concrete proof that Iraq has nuclear technology and intends to use it against us or intends to give it to al-Queda" how else are you supposed to vote?
It's only now, after years of fighting and not even the smallest glimmer of a WMD or the means to product one, that people are saying "hey, this war is a bad idea."
And they all say the US needs to get out of there. Well no crap, really? What is missing is an actual plan. I think Kerry lost on that 2 years ago. I can sit here and say we need to get out of Iraq, but how is the real question.
You can't. The Dems can't. The Republicans can't. It's a huge mess that we'll probably only get out of by "cutting and running" and leaving Iraq to fend for itself.
