Fox says it has made landfall but is not giving a specific location: http://www.foxnews.com/weather/2012/10/29/millions-across-east-coast-brace-for-uperstorm-sandy/

Sandy's no longer a hurricane, but it still packs a wallop.

The massive storm was downgraded just after it barged ashore in southern New Jersey, bringing 90-mph winds and a roiling wall of seawater as it moved inland and north toward New York City. The monster storm, still a powerful, 900-mile-wide hybrid of several weather systems, sent 30-foot-high swells toward the garden State, and as its eye passed over the shoreline, a surge as high as 10 feet tore into dunes and washed across boardwalks.

Yes, Old Crazy I am certainly glad you made it out. We now have to worry about German if he satayed at his place with the dogs. I saw on the news the winds there were higher than anywhere.

Still good here. It was flickering a lot between 5:00 and 6:00 but has been steady for at least an hour. Let's hope it stays on for all of us.

I have no use for AC, I avoid it at all costs. Just last month I served on a jury for a drug dealer's case in Atlantic County Superior Court. What a hell-hole that place is, "Camden with a beach". However... I hate to see that kind of devastation anywhere.

Watching Christie right now and he was very critical of the mayor of Atlantic City because he told people they could stay and shelter in place. Christie had already ordered an evacuation and had busses waiting but people didn't take advantage of them because of what the mayor said. He said anyone who is still there will have to spend the night at this point because it's too dangerous for first responders to go in at the moment.
I heard every word of it.He told it like it is,I like that about him even if I haven't agreed with every thing he has done.If your a butthole he'll tell you you are.
Sandy has been downgraded to a post tropical depression. It isn't even displaying tropical characteristics anymore.I personally think the cold labrador current has killed it.I thought it would but the weathermen swore the noreaster in new england would kick it and keep it going.Cold water and going over land will kill these beasts everytime.

I'm safe & sound 45 miles inland. The fire department picked up about 50 people at dead low tide this afternoon, myself included, and took us off the island. At dead low tide the water in Sea Isle City was knee deep to waist deep. I don't even want to fathom how high the water is going to be at high tide tonight. With this morning's high tide I lost everything in my crawl space, my washer/dryer, heating units and air conditioning units. Most of the other people who were ferried off the island lost their cars and had to be taken to a shelter. Thank God I got my truck offshore on Saturday and was able to drive to a relatives house. For me, going to a shelter would be like going to prison.
Glad your okay Old Crazy.I lose power here if a cloud goes over the sun but here we have an honest to God hurricane and I haven't even had a blink????

I wish I knew. Right now it feels like it's over but somehow I sorta doubt that. I already setup a bed in my workshop, which is the safest room in the middle of the house with no windows. Haven't decided whether to use it yet though.

It really stinks outside. Jen says she thinks it smells like an old basketball or football or the air that comes out of them.

The news from NYC is unbelievable. Lower Manhattan is flooded, power going out all over town. Brooklyn Battrery tunnel is flooded. The facade fell off a building - right across the street from my daughter's office. She is safe in the Queens area herself but says it's very scary with the wind shaking their apartment building.

The news people in philly say the buildings are shaking and they see flashes of light all over as people loose power.
