    Ruffed Grouse

On the subject of ruffed grouse yesterday I was out hiking at wharton off of caranza road. While hiking on a dirt trail back there I saw tracks that looked like turkey tracks, however they were about the size of a quarter, with a very short stride. Not sure what kind of bird they were, ruffed...

    Pileated Woodpecker

Yeah, northern flickers often seem to fly in large groups as you said. I have seen them down at cape may in groups of a couple dozen. Their also the only woodpecker that you will ever see on the ground. I doubt pileateds exist in south jersey, the pileated I have seen are in habitat I've...

Trip to various spots in cape may and cumberland counties

Thanks for the info scott, the tide chart will def help. I noticed on my way down one of the roads that it was about 8 inches higher than the water, this during low tide. That rode back to the beach may have not been that wet. But due to a recent snowstorm, than thaw, than freeze, than thaw...

Trip to various spots in cape may and cumberland counties

Yeah come to think of it I did see the road that leads through the marsh to the beach. It looked extremely muddy and was blocked off. PSEG had some signs about it being a restoration site. The place looked like it was doing pretty good in the way of wildlife, so I guess their doing a good job...

Trip to various spots in cape may and cumberland counties

Haah good stuff, my run of the mill jeep cherokee fits in ok. I would like the f 350 though I would love to buy one but can't fork up that kind of loot for something that looses a quarter of its value when it leaves the lot. Its not the rednecks i'm worried about, I like rednecks alot better...

Trip on the East Creek or Manumuskin 2/25

Menatico ponds is a nice place to hike around at. I have never seen bald eagles there though. I have seen a few at manumuskin preserve. During october I would see one on at least every trip I made down there. I like that area of the pines because there are not really any large towns nearby...

    Pigeon

I would say it was a cooper's or a sharpie. Both birds have stripes on their tail. But the whole blue grey thing is weird. Northern harriers have owl like heads and are found around marshes and open grasslands. The key thing in identifying any hawk or falcon is what did it look like in...

    great horned owls

I have a couple friends who live in that area around the park. There is quite a population of red fox denning in cannon park along with the devon ave soccer fields. I agree real estate price are way overpriced in heights along with the taxes.

    Bamber Lake

Come on your telling me people are going to stop going out to bars because they can't smoke there. I know a bunch of my buddies who smoke who like the ban. They may stop smoking now instead of freezing outside while catching a smoke. Until now they try to quit, but after a couple shots of...

    great horned owls

Yeah my sister lives right along 295 off devon, I guess they live around that alley of woods that goes down to big timber creek. The owl sounded like it was right in front of us. We had a 1,000,000 candled power light shinning in the trees but couldn't find it. After about five minutes we...

    great horned owls

Tonight while at my sister's house in haddon heights I heard two owls hooting back and forth. I've never heard an owl before especially in such a populated area as camden county. I always thought of owls as living in the deep woods. Has anyone else seen or heard them in populated areas like...
